Hello Guys,  I am building my sim room finally.  What size should it be?  I have a FDS shell & MIP.   Any help would be great....Any plans or room suggestions would be great.
Cheers Lance

I really do not have a "plan" for the sim room as it has to share the space with other aspects of my life. But when I get home I plan to do some work to give it a more "private" area. We will see how that all works out.

My suggestion to you is nothing less than than 12 foot x 10 foot and a nine foot ceiling.  That is what I use right now and it really needs to be 12 x 12.

That's with a 180 view with three short throw projectors and a full shell to the circuit breakers.

I suggest 16'x16'x10' high. It'll give you movable room to go around the shell or too put up a ladder to readjust the projectors if they some how move ever so slightly...

9*12 is all I got....thanks

You can make 9x12 work, but it will be tight.  Depending on the orientation of your shell, you may have to live with some shadowing in the rear edges of the view.  Where is the entry door?  Long wall or short wall?  Center or offset?

I can set up up either way...what would you suggest?

My response:

It needs to be the biggest room in the house.

There.... Fixed it.  ::)

How about this, measure everything like the FDS shell, decide if it will be projectors or not, and then draw out a floor plan. Then, post your floor plan below...

If you can the entry into room from the center of long side, then you can use that to enter right into the back of the shell.  That gives you the most space along the sides and front to fit your screen and projectors.  Basically you almost butt the back of the shell up against the wall, centered on the long side.  That gives you about three feet on the sides and front of the shell which is enough for short throw projectors.  The trick is that you will have to be creative in getting everything in and making sure it all works well before closing up the shell as access to the front will be tight.

It is doable.
