Guys,  I was just trolling the FDS site, and came across this pic?  Is this a new version of the 737 with a sidestick for a steering tiller?  Help LOL

I had the sidestick as a tiller for years....now back to orthodoxy.. :P

Actually years ago after using the sidestick as a yokefor a while, I was tempted to have the first "A737" sim on earth!

Do It Jack. With the 767 throttles conversion taking plave it can be called the A6737 model : :D

Well guys n gals, lllooonnngggg time before Airbus Industries decided to use Sidestick Controllers, there was a B737-200 flying using them.

NASA used "Sidestick" controls, and also experimented with many others, together with different instrumentation lay-outs in their 737-200 (N515NA).

NASA installed a second cockpit aft of the main cockpit, from which the second crew and scientists could control the aircraft. ALSO....from that research aircraft we get the "Glass Cockpits" of today, used in all sorts of a/c.

As well as Controls and Instrumentation, NASA also developed systems for detecting "Windshear".

The main cockpit carried the usual two pilots as "safety" and for T/O's & landing's.

Thats "my baby".....I use the NASA 737-200 as the external on my 737-800 sim, and my call-sign (N515NA - NASA515) on the net.
Had the chance to say "hello" to her in Seattle, Feb this year.

This was a Custom Project we did for a major Boeing Contractor. They use the device for some pretty detailed simulation and wanted to have the ability to replicate sticks for some of their customers. The Side Sticks are not related to the 737 Program at all.
