In a nutshell even with Orbx Global I find that the outside scenery is pale as opposed to vivid colors, no real green in summer, [b always ]like an overcast day [/b]even if I use no clouds at all

Not a matter of TV vs Projector, my Optoma image is sharp  but I am pretty sure the projector can deliver more colorwise.

I tried the Optoma 1080 settings to no real avail
The advanced tab should be helpful but I'm lost with the settings
Tried also the P3D settings, same comment. even with infinite visibility

Pretty sure I miss something and help would be appreciated.

If you turn on Dynamic vegetation (Dynamic trees) everything will go way to GREEN pale..  turn off dynamic trees (vegetation) the color will look more real .  this setting is in prepar3d.

Will try that
The Optoma settings are also key to a good image but I'm far from an expert with " hues... saturations...etc" :P

The colors though, aren't as deep as fsx ones were..  But I really like the look of my peopar3d scenery with ORBX.

Jack,
I had a similar issue with P3D and Orbx, my advice would be to switch off the Orbx scenery and get the colours right in P3D first. You can do that by a global reset of the Prepar3D system settings. Then re-introduce Orbx and see if that affects the look, then you will at least know where the issue is.

Incidentally Jack have you been getting my mails? Unusually I haven't had a reply!!!

I'd say calibrate the displays first, once satisfied, then play with P3D settings.

I have noticed for the last couple of years that the P3D colors are no where near as nice as FSX's where. My sky always looks dingy and not the nice bright blue when you are in the air above the clouds. Last time I was on an airplane I took a picture of the color of the sky. Nothing like the color of P3D.

Hey Bob,

Please post the pic from the plane, as I am curious about this since I haven't seen P3d in use yet.

And even FSX was on the dingy side compared with FS9

Take a look at this video.

Very dingy colors....

Not sure if this is the problem but P3D should have volumetric fog set to ON.  Apparently its a bug.  Cleared my skies a lot.

Hey Guys,

-Bob, I watched some of your video and it does look dingy or washed out.

-All, have you thought about adding a shader add on. Since I have not used P3d yet, I cannot say this will fix the problem, but it's worth trying. Here are some you should look at:

Also look at:

ENVTEX and ENVSHADE

Problem solved (for my setup anyway)

For the Optoma:

Dynamic veget off (Trevor)
As Nat recommended:
Display mode Vivid
Gamma: Graphics
Brilliant color :10
Color temp: Standard
Brightness mid scale
Contrast max

For P3D

Goto  Options
General
Lighting
Brightness 1.08
Bloom 0
Saturation 1.42

Bright Blue Sky
Green Grass and vegetation
Black blacks, red reds etc.

Hey Jack.. I just tried it! Wow, that looks better! I have been flying this all this time looking like that and that's all there was to it??!! Shame on me!  ???

crazydunc

Well I know what I'm trying on Friday! Will update with the results.

Thanks Jack for sharing!

NOTE: I use ORBX Base, Vector and LC NA...  I do not exibit any of these issues except for the dynamic trees checkbox.  I tried these settings and my runway looked greeney.  My sky is very blue by default..

NOTE.. BAD PICTURE ON BAD RESOLUTION CAMERA = Doesn't do it justice..

Many thanks to Jack for the upgrade to the Optomas. The only change I did was to go to Vivid and that made a big difference.

Here are a couple of pictures after the change.

Hey Jack,
A few years back I was a little unsure of the lack of colour in my cockpit sim, so I introduced URP (Ultimate Realism Pack) which is a free P3D add-on software pack.

It was fantastic, some tweaks to the shader files that really accentuated the colours and made my sim look so real.

Things have changed in the last few years tho and URP is not the only thing available now. There is PTA (P3d Tweaker Accessory), Envtex, Envshade, Rex Skyforce (although this is primarily a cloud tool, it also has tweaks built in for runway replacement textures, clouds, lightning looks, sounds, and also PTA pre-sets as well.

I try to KISS (keep it simple, stupid) with my cockpit sim, but if I find that an add-on adds sufficient value to the sim without causing any negative issues, then I add it.
Rex Skyforce textures are added to my cockpit sim and that's all (only the texture files, not the engine. I'm stisfied at the moment, but I will try your twaeks, Thank You and thanx to Nat,

Regards,

Frank

The clouds are a free one which have been around for ages, which seem to work very well. Simple and easy.
