Hi Everyone,

As the subject matter suggests. I'm looking for a 737 NG FDS glare shield and the glare wings as well. Not sure if these are a unit or are separate units. I'm guessing separate. If anyone has such for sale and can ship to Ontario, Canada, send me a PM with information, pictures, prices etc..

EDIT:In talking with Peter at FDS it's best to have the matching MIP as well with regards to structural integrity, so would also be interested in the FDS MIP as well. My budget is a little tight for new gear at this time so putting the feelers out for good used first.

Thanks,

Ed

Shipping can be an issue?

Hi Jack ,

I'm interested. How much does it weigh do you figure? I'm guessing it is one piece so would be a large package but not very thick. Shipping usually based on how much cubic feet it takes up and weight.. Be nice to get an idea of shipping costs. Wouldn't be worthwhile though if shipping costs higher than the item value.

Hi Jack,

So my enquiry is of a package weighing 2 kg  - 140 x 40 x 9  ..all in cm.  I just used the first Montreal Postal Code that came up. UPS will charge the amount of a 10 KG package.

Taxes in it looks like 132.09 cad to my door. I imagine this would be if you dropped off at depot. To pick up at your door would be more I'm sure.

All kinds of surcharges these days. 132 is the bottom of the pole. It goes up to 202 for the top bracket. So for guestimating purposes
I would say shipping 150.00 cad.

Probably not worthwhile to ship. I have the FDS shell and liners. I probably should bite the bullet..save up and buy the FDS MIP and Glare package. Just retired in October though and my wallet isn't ready for it yet, even though my mind is :).

All the best,

Ed

Had no idea Marathon was so far !
You are closer to Winnipeg than to Montreal !   :(
No wonder it"s expensive.

Guys,
Canada Post would ship that and wouldn't cost half that.

I'll do a check and get back on it.

EDIT: Ok.. it looks like Canada Post will ship it 'Regular Parcel' for 46.25. Insurance would push it up a bit.

If CAD 60 + ship is OK with you
Send me your address (lost it)
I will wrap it and make a final check with it to find out postage fee.

Hi Jack,

Couldn't figure out how to get pictures to send in PM so will post them here. This is about where I am at with my MIP. It's all home made with  mdf. About the only thing missing are the glare underneath parts. I'm pretty sure the MIP will come close to fitting my shell, but having said that there will probably need to be a few minor modifications . My homemade glare shield for sure as it's dimensions are no where near what is necessary to fit the shell which got my interest up in yours. You can see the glare underneath that I need to fabricate. Kind of a tricky piece.

I'm also including a url to my website to give you an idea of it's construction. Quick measurements of my shell tell me the fit is close.

I think the Glare would sit nicely on top of my MIP with a few minor mods? The MIP measurements width and height are close to OEM. The angles on the sides may be a little shallower than OEM. I was shooting for 10 degrees slope port and starboard sides but ended up with around 8.

Let me know what you think.

Should work...
I'll add 2 underwings (new old FDS  :D ) and an extra map pocket.
Should get you going  ;)

Give me some time though, busy season now (in the southern part of QC)
