With "unboxing" videos being all the rage these days, I couldn't resist this. :D

Thanks!  I finally got done shooting the "unboxing the other boxes" video.  Tons of cool stuff in there.  The guy I got it from included something like four or five boxes of PC flight sims.  An amazing collection!

That's going to be a lot of fun.  The Engine sound could use some work, and if you could feed Location data in and take it out and add visuals, that would be even cooler..

I can only imagine the fun you can have with that Gene.  Something tells me your not going to settle for it the way it is, there has to be a way to interface to it. If anyone can figure that out, it would have to be you.

Well done, and please keep us updated.

Hey Trev,

Did you catch the mention of collimated display in the earlier video, I think there's a clue in there.... 8)
He's done it before!!!

Joe, Trevor is already familiar with my antics. We go back quite a ways. ;)

Right now the goal is to get it cleaned up and get it working "as new".
Because of the volume of documentation I've got with it, I should be able to interface it without too much hassle.  My self-imposed restriction is that it's got to be easily reverted to it's stock, "analog" configuration.  The ATC-810 I have was built in 1982 (s/n 191) and is a masterwork of electronic design.

My next steps are going to be pulling the cab off of it in order to do some PM work on it as well as replace (or fabricobble) a belt to repair the rudder bias mechanism.

The next video I shoot will show the simulator in the "naked" configuration and I'll go over how the whole thing works in a combination of videos and blog posts.  There's not a whole lot going on, but it'll take time to describe it in a manner that won't result in a massive population die-off due to boredom. ;)

Bernard S: That patent expired two years ago. :D :D :D

I am excited to stay tuned to the channel,  waiting for what goodie comes up next.

Thanks Gene..  Keep it coming...

So...  you know, I know the guy that built one of those collimated displays...  He's looking for a new home for it and lives "just up the road from you" in Colo Springs.

It's pretty sweet  -having flown it, I can attest to it

If it's scratch built, I know the guy.  I designed the display for him so he could use it on the 737 flight deck he was building.

It is.  He told me you had a huge part in it.  I wish I was headed back to Colo Spgs anytime soon as I would grab it up.  It came out very nice.

Nice!  I've never seen the whole thing - he can't get far away enough to get a good photo because the room is so small. :D

I hope it finds a good home.
