I'm posting this in case anyone is interested.  I have a trustworthy friend here in the U.S. who is in the salvage business and is currently cutting up an A320 (he can source other parts for the community as well).  He'll be onsite today/tomorrow.

Cockpit seats, sticks, rudder pedals, TQ and pedestal, overhead are all there.  If anyone is interested in real parts for an A320, please contact me ASAP.

FYI, the aircraft will be destroyed completely tomorrow so if you want something you need to be quick or it'll be gone.

I have no pricing.  That would have to be negotiated with him and payment made immediately so he can pay the scrapyard he's getting the parts from.

I have bought major parts from him and he is fair and honest, and goes the extra mile for us if he can, something rare in the business.

Serious inquiries only please.

Trevor, I'm disappointed you've chosen to see things this way.  I have been NOTHING if not supportive of you and your site as a plain old simmer.  I have offered suggestions for site improvements, offered you free SSL certificates to secure your site, volunteered my time if needed, etc.  To think I am trying to do anything but be supportive to our community is just wrong.

And I am not "shilling" for a commercial vendor.  I am NOT making a dollar here, and he is NOT making a fortune.  He is busting his ass for us, literally.

My only intent was to connect simmers with someone who I believe can help benefit the community.  I trust him to not screw us.  He is very supportive of our hobby and I think he can do us a valuable service to find things we all want without us getting raked over the coals by unscrupulous sellers who are taking advantage of us.  That is a HARD thing to find these days and we should be cultivating those kinds of relationships, not throwing them away.  Whether you believe me or not is irrelevant.  He has SHOWN me by his actions so I know firsthand.

In the end, it's your site so do as you will.  But I believe you are hurting all of us by taking this approach.  When a good opportunity for the community presents itself, I think it's only good form to share the wealth.  Isn't that what the point of this site is?

Happy to discuss other ways to get the word out.  Or not.  Doesn't matter to me at this point.  Over and out.

I dont see the problem.. its really simple  people building sims world wide is only getting smaller with the on set of VR

CB has always been free   I don't get why you want to commericalise it maybe you should just charge everyone who mentions a certain Canadian vendor and you could retire or are you going to charge for information freely given ?  and add a beach house? most of what I see for sale here is people upgrading from simulated items to real   and most that  are wanting real parts dont know where to to go or what is even reasonable $$$ or even who is reputable aviation is like if  not worse than than the horror stories of car salesmen  just my two cents worth  i personaly dont like evil bay and would rather discount via cb than pay them .

This is over the limit.

MistyBlue wants to help with sourcing of parts from a A320 and there is a problem with this?!

This is a really nice favor of him to let people know they might get A320 Oem parts.

Why on earth should he pay this site for this!?

This will be my last post here. That is just ridicoulus.

I completely see your point,  There was another scrap dealer here that would advertise his parts as well, I dealt with him first hand.  He would not price parts, just say contact me for pricing. When asked  he wanted to soak everyone and get rich quick.

Its not cool taking advantage of builders, and I am trying to stop that.  People using this service to Fark us all over with their commercially high pricing.

Just doesn't sit well with me.  At the end of the day, someone is using this FREE Community service to "Make a profit".  As much as this is great information for us builders, and hard to locate or find, its a hard cookie to swallow.

If they don't want to make a small contribution to our community, they can goto Ebay and Post their items for sale.  They will charge you a much higher fee then the 5-60 bucks we ask for here.

Agree with it or not, but Sorry It is what it is.

Bernard, Sorry you feel that way.  I don't expect you to see the problem because you think by me doing this I am trying to commercialize the site.  Whitch is untrue, the other reason you don't see the commercial posters is because I have stopped it almost a year ago.  All you get to see is legit hobbyists selling their parts.

Which is what we wanted in the first place.

Okay...I see two points of view here and both are 100% valid.

So we are in a "grey" area regarding how to approach.

My points...

We all agree I think that we do not want commercial vendors coming here to advertise without some kind of recompense. The policy is also clear that members have to pay to advertise selling used parts as well.  All fine with that in principle.

However, there are posts here just about every week (day?) with members recommending vendors in response to questions posted in the forum or recommending a new vendor of some product or service that they have discovered etc.

There are also posts that reference third-party Ebay ads for valuable equipment and for commercial auction items.

So...with this case we have a "chicken or egg" situation.

I think we can all agree that any leads on finding used aircraft parts are immensely valuable. So is this a case where MistyBlue is simply posting a very valuable lead....or....is this a case where the parts supplier is using MistyBlue as a conduit for business?

So a "Grey" area.  Maybe a little of both.  I believe that Trev realizes that dilemma as well since the post remains up.

Peace to all.

While I don't know the specifics of policy choices here at CockpitBuilders, I recall the AVSIM Forum fiasco back in the day.

Advertisers/Avsim Admins were hounding people to stop posting links to other advertisers in the forums. Without much more detail, it was a mess and while I can't speak for Trevor or Bob, I have a sneaking suspicion that Trevor wants to avoid the same situation.

However, the bottom line is.. running this site costs real money. It has to come from somewhere as I'm sure Trevor, Bob, and company don't have bottomless checking accounts to keep this site alive. (Nor a beach-house they need to make payments on... cmon!....)

Invariably, sometimes commercial interests find their way through the cracks here at Cockpitbuilders and make their way into the forums.

While I admire their tenacity, I think it's also unfair that a commercial interest finds their way into our community, and that they are able to sidestep any fiduciary responsibility in exchange for having their products listed in the forums.

People enjoy this site. It's only $5, $10 to have something listed. It's literally the best deal in this hobby.

Isn't that worth the price of admission for access to knowledge and experience that can only be found here?
