All,

I don't have funds available to spend ££££'s on a FWD + AFT overhead panel yet. Its on my roadmap but not for 18-24 months.

I use Prosim and at the moment I have their software fwd+aft panels displayed on a desk monitor and use a mouse to operate which isn't ideal.

To increase the realism I thought about getting a large touch screen monitor and mounting this overhead but not sure what size I should get. I understand the dimensions of the overheads are approx:-

FWD
L = 718 mm
W = 670 mm
D = 125 mm

AFT
L = 362 mm
W = 670 mm
D = 125 mm

I think if I need to match the existing size like for like I will need a 34" or bigger monitor which I don't think is going to be feasible.

Can anyone help determine what size touch screen monitor may give me a good usable experience?

Hope you can help.

Thanks
Mark

The size limit is up to your budget.
Touch screens are expensive but a very good alternative to interfaced hardware
Take as big as you can afford, period.

Thanks for getting back to me.

What size do you think would be most realistic?

jackpilot

None, as the largest touchscreen (that I know of ) are in the 22" range.
Will not be "realistic" as a 737 OVH is way bigger than that.
May be two monitors side by side.
Check what is available and what you are ready to pay for.

Ok no worries. I'll consider 2 next to each other to see if that gets me close.

Thanks for your help.

I use 2x22" units to make my overhead work. not perfect, but does the job. benefit is also getting speakers overhead, and can move ATC, Fly2Crew and other applications overhead.

(but I fly a 737!)

That 2 x 22" solution looks good and like it would work for me. How did you mount them?

Also, out of interest what make is your SST?

Thanks. Out of interest are you happy with your Jetmax. I am torn between the Jetmax and the Simworld Plug and play SST.
