Had a gent the other day locally offer me $1000 cash for my overhead, I was thrilled and told him to come over as soon as he could. But as soon as I got to the sim room to start to take it down, I stopped and said "NO F'IN WAY!" not for $1000 and not for $2000 Im keeping it and ill start over making another sim. This video with Angus has also truly reinspired me. Thank you angus for posting you truly have an amzing sim. Well the gentleman arrived but unfortunately left empty handed but after seeing what I still have of my sim setup and the quality of my overhead, he could see why. His exact words were if i would have gotten it for a thousand dollars it truly would hve been a steal. So never the less Im not sure what im going to do yet, but i will doo something but im using my 340 overhead no matter what LOL. So anyone interested its no longer for sale! All the best

tim,  good man.      i guess in life we have to be pushed to the edge before we realise just how much we have.
we have a saying here that 'you don't know what you have until it isn't there anymore'.
really pleased you have been inspired and motivated...... and just want to wish you good luck with your 're-build'   ;D

Let's be serious.
There is only one four engine airplane your can build.
1) It uses standard Boeing parts but could easily accommodate your Overhead (Check pic2)
2)there is an excellent flight model for it.
3) Mostly...it fits your personality!

Be OOK (One Of A Kind!)  know what I mean!!

So true Mike. I've checked out every other day for the last 2 years at least & I and find myself checking back in soon after  ;D. I wish there was a cookie I could take to get over this addiction. Or at least, we should be able to go into rehab like Tiger Woods & get 'fixed' in 2 weeks  :D

Flying, for those of us with ratings, and many of those without, gets into your blood; your very being, and that feeling or urge never goes away.
It never goes away. Once you've been above this earth at some altitude in control of a flying machine that you determine where it's going to go based on your control inputs, you will never get it out of your system.

Ever.

You will want to fly for the rest of your days. Even if you can't, you will still want to. You will gaze up at the sky every time an aircraft flys over. It matters not if it's at 3,000 ft or at FL300 and you can hear it 20 miles past your position. You will want to fly for the rest of your life.

And you will look up every time...

Well said and right on the money, Mike.  There's no way...NO WAY...to rid this passion, this love, this interest, this desire from the bloodstream; no way in Heaven or Hell or on Earth.  It is, indeed, an addiction.  I am very, very glad to have it coursing through my arteries and veins and am extremely grateful to those who have picqued my interests early on in my life who introduced me to the world of aviation.
Keep the pointy end up and forward.........

I couldn't have said it better myself Mike.  That is exactly how it is.

And I would add that a well planned and executed (mostly manual) flight, without any slew or shortcut, from gate to gate, leaves you with almost the same satisfaction as a real one, and the same relaxing feeling/grin of a job well done!

Right on Mike! And if you ever go to Oshkosh, Wisconsin during the annual EAA convention, you will see everyone from toddlers to centenarians and all of them with the same spark in their eyes when looking at airplanes, be they microlights, warbirds, jets or any other contraption that gets above ground.

And you don't even need Viagra to enjoy the sights. No prescrition needed except stronger lenses perhaps  ;D. I know it's sick & my wife tells me I'm sick, but I even like the smell of burning jet fuel when I'm near an airport.  ::)

Got to go...I just saw a spot in the sky.

Tim,

Im am truly glad to see you start moving in the direction of building again one day. I remember a long conversation you and I had about a year or so ago when you started considering 'getting out' of the hobby. You talked about how it can be so aggravating to have this or that not work half the time, or once you get this component running then something else needs to be bought or built, and on and on. Finally over the last year I have experieced your comments there IN FULL, but I have to say that when that happens, I either soldier up and push through, or I step back and kill me some bad guys online COD4 :-) It really helps the stress level and then Im ready to finally tackle the pain in the pants problem 'till it's fixed.

Glad to see you moving towards a sim again Tim!

Had to laugh a little when i saw this post cause i really felt your pain! Glad to see your not getting out!
I really need to get my ass in gear and start building again! geeze... Not sure wtf i have been doing the past year but all i know is i have a bunch of awesome parts sitting in the garage all ready to be put back together into a sim again!
