As the new GC build allows the following for engine start procedure:

N2StartupDelay=20
N2Crank=32.3
N2ContinueDelay=10
N2Stable=55.2
N2ShutDownDelay=20

N1Init=3.3
N1StartupDelay=20
N1Stable=23.7

EGTStartupDelay=20
EGTStable=494
EGTShutDownDelay=20

So you can define all phases of the engine start.

N2

When the starter switch is activated, N2 spools up within [N2StartupDelay] seconds to the value
[N2Crank]%. When you add fuel it goes to the value [N2Stable] within [N2ContinueDelay] seconds.

N1

When the starter switch is activated, N1 spools up to [N1Init]%.
When you add fuel it goes to the value [N1Stable] within [N1StartupDelay] seconds.

EGT

When the starter switch is activated, EGT remains at OAT.
When you add fuel it goes to the value [EGTStable] within [EGTStartupDelay] seconds.

Could one of our "resident 737 Flight Crew" confirm the values for the NG, (delay in second and %spool)
n2 crank?

Jack,
As you prob know, some of these values depend on OAT and Elevation..Even Airplane.  The NG's generally remain cooler during an engine start. Except for the limitations and overall "What you should normally see" Theres no need to have these numbers memorized. I could take a crack at it but i would rather be a bit more precise.  Ill try to take a video of a start when i can.

Sure, thanks for your time.
Do you know what he means by N2crank  (n2 % at which fuel is fed, or ignition)?

I'm guessing that it cranks up to the N2crank percentage and won't go above until fuel is added. Isn't that at 25% on the NG's (or at max rotoring and a minimum of 20%)?

Again (and welcomed) we have new builds
486  15/02/11

Would be a good idea for the "bravest" to report on the present situation with these builds, including GC, MCP, CDU, PMSound/ QMap/ Instructor/ as some users here seemed to have new issues with PMSyst.

I still use 480, with some minor issues, but pretty stable.
("when it works do'nt touch it" syndrome)  :D

Please report here.

I never tested new builds in the sim. I had a small desktop setup I would use for that and email suport when I did it and I would wait for other users to report. Maybe it is time to set that back up... Would get me flying. That is a thought.

The good thing about PM updates is it's just a single file to replace, so changing back and forth between builds whilst experimenting takes seconds.

PM GC build 486

Gentlemen,
I have a problem with the N1/N2 display during engine start!

Activating the start switch N2 rises to approx. 12% and then goes back to 3 to 2%, it never reaches the 25% needed to inject fuel via the fuel cutoff levers and defined in the aircraft.txt file:

N2StartupDelay=20
N2Crank=33.3
N2ContinueDelay=10
N2Stable=55.2
N2ShutDownDelay=20

N1Init=3.3
N1StartupDelay=20
N1Stable=23.7

EGTStartupDelay=20
EGTStable=494
EGTShutDownDelay=20

I have inserted the above values into the aircraft.txt file, which is activated via the CDU / IDENT / MODEL page.

Are there any corrections necessary in the glass cockpit ini too?

As there is no manual available can you give me a hint, where to make this corrections, that the display in the Glass Cockpit (upper and lower EICAS) works correct according to the values in the aircraft.txt file?

Appreciate any help!

Cheers
René

Sounds like the start button is not held  until N2 reaches 26or some.
Is that possible?

No, that's working as before with the previous builds!
I have sent a mail to PM support and keeping you informed.
Thanks, Jack

But one question remains:

The description of the values to be added for N1 and N2 has been found in the "GC" changes description:
Quote(b)
- Please review your aircraft TXT files for engine startup sequence and set the following parameters as you require them

N2StartupDelay=20
N2Crank=32.3
N2ContinueDelay=10
N2Stable=55.2
N2ShutDownDelay=20
N1Init=3.3
N1StartupDelay=20
N1Stable=23.7
EGTStartupDelay=20
EGTStable=494
EGTShutDownDelay=20

So you can define all phases of the engine start.

But the file to be changed seems to be the aircraft.txt file in the "CDU" folder.

As it is not working properly in my setup the question remains: Is this correct? Has someone successfully made the N1/N2 setup - and how?

I am not  really keen to try.... (chicken liver syndrome)
Keep us posted if reply from PM.
No idea?

I'm using 737-800_v4 by Steve Reyling, from PM web site.

Well, I must admit I'm an update junkie! And suffering the most, when changing a running system ...  :(
I'll keep ya posted anyhow!

Just my gut feeling on this one. Your symptoms are a very common problem "within" FSX. Did you change your FSX panel as well? If so, it will be an engine start .gau/.cab issue rather than a coding error. A look at your panel.cfg file could help as well.  Charlie.

Thanks Charlie,  but I'm still using FS9 .... refusing from updating to FSX  8)

Well that is easy than - it is not your FSX [FS2002] gauges that are wrong. Apologies, and good luck, Charlie.

René
If you go back to previous build and Cfg, does it work as before?

That's exactly what I am going to do, as soon as I have time for it.
But this trial and error is annoying if you want to keep your software up to date ...
You never know what to expect, when you fire up the system ...
