Well Guys, (deep subject)

So ends another successful Worldflight. Not as much raised as last year but we made a great effort.  This year we made progress on a couple of things and I will detail them so we can all see and reflect on the progress for 2018.

First off for our 5th year I personally believe we have proven our CORE group of pilots.

Fred K
Vince T
Kyle H
Joaquin F
Mike S
Trev H
Sam L
Greg H
Doug S
Ray S
Bob R
Craig A

And hopefully. Some new faces for next year.

The Simulator is rebuilt and honestly better then ever. The audio for atc has been modified so that you can adjust the volumes from the intercom however you plug the headsets into the side wall and not the console.

The Audio panels in the pedestal have been modified with a push to talk switch so you done have to use the yoke triggers but if you want to you still can.

The Speaker volume knob on the first officer side now controls the audio out of the overhead speakers so you don't have to wear your headset the whole flight.

The sounds of the simulator are waaaaay better and more realistic. All the external racks are gone and everything is installed in the base of the simulator.

(Next year changes)

The audio out of the atc panel will be routed through the mixer to the stream. Allowing the viewers to hear the atc and the pilot conversations. We will install a microphone into the overhead. And place it through the mixer to the stream to allow viewers to hear the audio sounds as well.  This will all be better audio then the audio the USB cameras give.

I will try to upgrade the cameras to 1080p and I will be working on motorizing the TQ.

Thank you so much to Everyone who supported our cause you are all Hero's in my book and I hope to be able to count on you again next year.

We couldn't have done what we did this year without you. To all of you who didn't donate this year, maybe you can find it in your hearts to help us out next year.

Special thanks to FredK for hosting some pilots this year, Special thanks to warrenS and JoaquinF and GregH for offering to help with the rebuilding. We made it but I knew I could have called you if I ran into trouble.

And honerable mention to KyleH. We couldn't have done this week what we did without you. Bud you really were a Rock to keep us on task. Thank You for everything.

Pretty sad and pretty quiet at the sim now, but at least she is running again and on Prepar3D V4.1 now.

Thanks again to all and see you in 2018 in SRQ.

Thanks to all of you for getting Sam back up and running.
I look forward to next year and flying with the team.
Let me know when you begin working on the TQ as I want to convert mine from SIOC.  It will give me a chance to figure it out.

When I saw DAL209 on VatSpy, I couldn't even begin to imagine the work it took to get her back in the air. Congrats to everyone that did the hero's job to get her airborne.  My family and I are going to be in SRQ for Thanksgiving this year - would love to see the new sim at her new home.

Also, the deepest thanks to FredK and his wife Barbara to host us at his home sim this year as an alternate site. Had a bunch of great crews, and I learned a bit about flying an FMC from JohnZ.

Still need to bury my face in Bulfer's FMC Bible a bit more. On my flight back from RIC, had a 777 Check Airman on the jumpseat with me, and we talked about ETOPS Flight Planning the whole ride back as he was a new LCA and had a million questions. I got just shy of 24 block hours for this year's WF.

Thanks to all, and I cant wait til WF18!

Awesome Doug. Glad to hear you learned some tricks.

Actually the sim is still in a temporary location without the motion platform. Not sure where it's final resting place will be quite yet. But needless to say it will be ready for 2018. When we put it back together it's super easy to move around and transport.

Trev,
You guys did an amazing job...would like to have been there but understood it was a skeleton crew.
How do we make the list of CORE pilots?
;)

We will be there!!!

I watched the USA, UK and Aussie teams during the entire event. Needless to say the UK team hit it out of the park as far as donations.

However the USA team hit it out of the county with the herculean effort to get DAL209 back in the air. Congrats to all of you for making this year a reality!

It's never too late to start thinking of next year....... I have conversations going with a few vendors who are interested in donating various wares and goods to be raffled off next year. You core group of pilots, start conversations now with your own vendor connections. I'm working on some of the legalities involved with hosting "raffles".

The gauntlet is thrown.

I am working on a video feed system that will be as good, if not better than the UK feed. (No offense to the UK team.. you guys rock with that Twitch feed!)

This will position the US team better for donations throughout the event.

Also it's worth mentioning that if your company does charitable donation matching, you have to do 2 things:

   1. Make sure that ACH is on your company's list of authorized recipients. If not you'll have to lobby the powers that be within your company. It's not a difficult uphill battle... more like a skirmish, but necessary and you need to start this process early.. like... now.

   2. When the time comes, make sure you have a paper (receipt) trail for your donations so your company can match.

...more to come in this area.....

WF2018 ! 360 days and counting!

Craig, gonna try to get people to commit more than a couple days for the event.  I know with it being your anniversary week it's tough for you.  If you can make it and grab a hotel we would love to have you join us.

Keep me posted.

Yeah, you're right Trevor.
My anniversary always cuts into my availability that week (for some reason, My wife likes for us to "spend time together" on our anniversary) but I am happy to play a supporting role at WF as much as I can.
You can count me in next year for as much time as I can provide.
Thank you guys for allowing "part timers" to contribute in some way!
Great job this year!!!!!

It's been a while since I've been on here. I read what happened to your sim on the WF forum .. can only imagine how awful that was! But great to see you got it all flying again, great team effort.

Nic  (ATM42S in WF)

Trevor Hale

Thanks Nic. Been a long time since we have seen you.  Yes she is breathing again and we got to do about 4 or 5 of the Worldflight flights.

We are better than ever for 2018

Speaking of next year.... cough cough clear throat.... is there going to be a satellite crew in NYC or should i apply solo?

Nico

Trevor Hale

Sorry Nico,

All Satellite Crews apply to Worldflight on their own and field their own teams.

Thanks
