Title: WORLDFLIGHT 2019 - FLIGHT BIDS
Post by: Trevor Hale on September 13, 2019, 06:17:01 AM
Hi Again Everyone..  Ok, so We are going to start Accepting Flight Bids, BUT WAIT!!!!...

Before you make a bid for a flight please understand the following information and guidelines.  The Schedule is made up by an automated program, similar to that which the airlines would use and was programmed by our Chief Pilot (Kyle Hathaway).  That means likely the program will favor his bids...  Just kidding.

In any case the program will take into account many different factors to create the Schedule.  This include but are not limited to (Number of years you have been attending, Flight experience, First come first serve, your Bid list, and how much money you donate to the charity) Ok I am just kidding about the last one.

But the important thing to realize is if you are showing up to the event for only one day, this doesn't mean you will get the same amount of flights say that someone else gets that is there for the entire 7 days. We do our best to accommodate knowing having more people show up over the total length of the event is better than only having a few people show up for the entire event.  We have never to date, had anyone complain about the schedule, and of course as in real life, you can switch with other pilots as long as the Chief Pilot Has been notified in advance.

With all that being said, I must also make it known, that Until your Pilot Donations are in, None of your flight bids will be entered into the system, and if someone else makes a Bid for a flight you want....  It will count against you if your pilot donation hasn't been made yet. You should be noted too that just because you BID a flight, a more experienced Pilot May take that Bid away from you.  Bids aren't Guaranteed Flights, but I don't think we have ever had any complaints.

**  YOU DO NOT NEED TO BID FLIGHTS - IF YOU DON'T BID THE SYSTEM WILL STILL ISSUE YOU FLIGHTS, BIDDING IS ONLY FOR FAVORITE FLIGHTS TO DO **

Here is the Schedule, and Happy Bidding!

Hi all.
Just an FYI that each pilot is only allotted 10 bid slots. The system will throw away any bids after the 10th one is awarded.

3. WF1907

So is this where you all get together at one location and switch off flying duties?  And those of us that do not attend can fly along as well?  All online?  ATC coverage?

Hi Bernard as above seniority is based on number of years in attendance to our worldflight event.  Combined with experience ie. can you knowledgeably do all functions fo/captain duties on your own if you were alone in the aircraft or do you require some assistance, lots of assistance or are you completely green.

Some people can completely function alone in a Cessna 152 but put the 738 in front of them and they will always be behind the aircraft. Obviously first year members are assigned a lower skill level until we observe their abilities.

Yes if you do some research on worldflight group or www.worldflightusa.com (http://www.worldflightusa.com) you will read about it. The auzzies have been doing it 19 years. We started in 2013. 100% atc online coverage for 7 days 24 hours a day straight.

And absolutely if your a vatsim member you can totally fly along with the groups.

Trevor,

Here are my bids:

Saturday   1902
Sunday   1905, 1906 or 1907
Monday   1910
Tuesday   1920
Wednesday   1927
Thursday   1934
Friday   1942

I'm fine with anything I get assigned. I'm available 24/7 every day and I'm a low man on the seniority list.  ;D

I'm also more than happy to fly jump on any flight and be the "social media" officer whenever needed.

Also - throw Ray a bone and assign me to be his First Officer at least once so he can boss me around for a change...... LOL

Ryan

P.S. Team, a quick reminder to check your company's charitable giving policy.

My company matches charitable donations $1 for $1 so I took advantage of that and hopefully it gets approved.

Absolutely, I am sure we can manage to let Ray Boss you around for a change, but Ray's probably going to boss you around anyway :) Right seat or not LOL.
Actually with regard to the Social Media Duties, I appreciate that,  it will help keep a professional productive fun enviornment and does help to generate revenue for the kids.  Great stuff.

Hey everyone.  Have we published a schedule yet?

I apologize for being out of the loop - been busy going back and forth to Colorado settling my father's estate...  that will be a long process.

I've also successfully wrapped up and retired from the Military.  Now I'm ready to fly.

On that topic...  Fired up my sim after a month or so of not flying and I've had enough of the little glitches in my system that keep me from just flying...  cost of having an FDS MIP, CP Flight Pedestal, Opencockpits Fwd Overhead, Frankenstein Aft overhead, and RevSim TQ.

I'm "upgrading" now.  I've sent multiple emails to Simworld over the last week and was ready to just buy their MIP, Overheads, and Pedestal as I was looking for that Canbus tech, but they still haven't answered me.

In the absence of a reply from them - I am going 100% CPFlight.  (I'll keep my FDS CDUs though).  I'll also initially try to see if the CPFLight MIP panels will fit the FDS MIP.  I really don't want to pull that out of the shell.  If not, I'll order CPFLights MIP and mod the shell.

Anyone have any reason why I shouldn't?  I'm using PS7372 and P3D4.

With that said, does anyone need any parts when we get together for Worldflight.

I can vouch for the quality of the CPFlight stuff.....but....

I am using the CPFlight MCP, EFIS, and pedestal NAV panels.  Quality is superb for sure, but not all the pedestal panel functions work with my SIM-A avionics program (for example, the rudder trim panel).   So just be sure about what is important to you in that regard since it is basically "black box" plug-n-play.

My overhead is FDS, my CDUs are FDS, my MIP panels are SimParts.  I interface using the CPFlight board for the SimParts MIP hardware, and I use 2 FDS sysboards and FDS relays for everything else.

If I had to do it all over again I would probably go 100% FDS with one exception...the CPFlight MCP/EFIS.  As you note it makes life a lot easier to keep things uniform.  Easier to customize things to your preferences with SysBoards as well.  That may happen if and when I migrate to the 737Max.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Thanks Fred.  Just the input I was looking for.  I'm kind of sold on the CPFlight overheads.  Magnetic start, yaw damper, anti-ice switches, and guarded INS switches.  Push to test annunciators, and stepper motor gauges.  Locking switches, One USB plug.  Oh, and the dimmer and spot lights all tied into the controls.

I've got a CPFlight pedestal but I'm upgrading my ACPs and my COMM radios, as well as adding a SELCAL.

I just hope it all works as advertised.  I know the back of MIP will look much better!

I'm keeping pedestal as it's CPFLight, but if you want first crack at my Opencockpits Overheads, let me know.  I've got the shipping crate and everything.  I can bring them down for you take a look at
