Title: iPad resolution issue
Post by: mebbatson on January 05, 2014, 09:46:10 PM
Hi there,

I'm loving Instructor Station and have started to display it via my iPad and air display.
However, there's an annoying issue in that the resolution is so large it makes the iStation tiny and buttons almost unusable.
I've disabled 'use retina resolutions' in Air Display to no effect, and I can't find any other way of altering the resolution at either end of the setup.

Does anyone have any idea of how to get around this issue?

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,

I just connected AirDisplay both to my iPad and iPad mini, and I did have to disable to 'use Retina' option to get a good resolution, but it worked well.

What kind of resolution do you have on your desktop?  I also noticed there is a more updated version of AirDisplay (version 2).  I have not tried it, but it might improve things on your end?

Are you able to display other windows/programs properly? If not, you may need to get in contact with AirDisplay for support.

Good luck!

Best regards,
Luis Gordo

Thanks Luis,

I guess it must be something going on at my end then. Perhaps a Windows 8 issue?

I'm running AirDisplay2 but the only resolution it will offer me (with and without the 'use retina resolutions' checkbox disabled) is 2048 x 1536, which is way too high.

I'll contact Air Display and see if they have any ideas. Will report back!

Cheers,
Matt

Hi,

Just thought I'd let you know I resolved this issue. It was a problem with Air Display running in a user account rather than as an administrator which was restricting the resolution settings available. Instructor Station looks wonderful taking up the whole screen now! Che3ers for an awesome program.

Slightly off topic (and certainly not a fault of iStation) but wondering if anybody has had similar issues when setting up Air Display for iStation. I now can't actually start FSX because it doesn't recognise my graphics card as sufficient (if I don't launch Air Display it works fine). The Air Display window forces itself to be the number 1 monitor and I'm wondering if this is causing FSX issues (only 'seeing' the air display adapter?). Anyway, I'm working this through with Air Display support but just wondered if anybody here had had similar issues when setting things up?

Cheers,
Matt
