Title: DIY Push-Pull TPM Controls Help
Post by: obsoletepower on February 27, 2018, 09:08:19 AM
Hi everybody! I have been contemplating for some time now whether to incorporate real push-pull controls into my sim cockpit and although it would be easiest, it would not be as much fun, educational and challenging as building them from scratch. Not to mention I would have $300+ in my pocket to spend on something else. I was thinking of 3D printing the three knobs, using some stainless steel push rods and building a slide potentiometer board. I don't need friction/push-button locks and can do without vernier controls; just simple push-pull.

I am trying to source the panel mount conduit + nut (pictured below and highlighted with red square) but I cannot seem to find anybody that sells just that component. Would anybody have a suggestion as to a generic replacement / oem source for it? I would be greatly appreciative of any help.

Try Aircraft Spruce

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I did check AircraftSpruce before but they did not have replacement parts for TPM controls apart from spare control cables. I think maybe 3D printing is a good alternative as having those components machined will probably be more expensive than just buying the controls.

I have only three knobs. Left one control Vent. This one open/close every vent knob (4 of them) in the simulator.

Testing..

Works perfect!

Now, Im using them as a TPM throttle quadrant, until I finish the real throttle quadrant I will use :)
