Just a quick report on a recent upgrade I did to my scenery with ORBX Base.   I run P3D ver 3.0 on a single computer with a GTX980 graphics card.   I also have some MegaScenery and a few HD airports.   I'm running a multi-window display from the GTX980 with three Optoma HD GT1080 projectors, with a fixed frame rate of 30 fps.

Overall, the graphic update to the scenery during a flight has been quite acceptable.   There are the typical updating to the projected images as the flight progresses over terrain.  Overall, the Sim display is performing well.

However, with only ORBX Base installed, you have the typical "blockish" areas in various parts of the scenery depending where in the world you are flying.  This of course can be enhanced with various scenery upgrades, eg. MegaSceneryEarth, etc. - everyone has their preference.   In any case, with my new installation of P3D for my Sim, I wanted to start simple and work from there - especially since I am using only one computer and one graphics card for the 3-projector multi-windowed setup.

So...  I installed ORBX Vector and ORBX Landclass Europe, and also the new ORBX release of Landclass North America.  I was very please that there was no hit on performance of graphics updating to the scenery during a flight.   the major benefits was a wonderful scenery experience, with coastlines, rivers, towns, terrain features, etc. all showing more accurate detail and looking far more realistic.   Add in my ActiveSky Next weather and the view from the cockpit is amazingly realistic, making for a much better Sim experience.

All this is subjective for each person's Sim configuration, but I thought it would be good to share my experience upgrading to the other ORBX Vector and Landclass products.  This suite of products from ORBX seems to be a good match with P3D and is compatible with most other scenery products.

I may experiment with some terrain mesh products to see what enhancements I might get.  FSGenesis has a European mesh product for P3D that takes down to 19 meters.  Might be worth trying...   Any comments on terrain mesh?

Cheers...
