Hello all,
After selling my 737 project,  I'm now going for a 1 seat GA/Multisim. My aim is not to make it look like a specific model, instead I'll design a Multisim that can be used with a piston or a 737.

So far I've purchased BFF control loading electronics and servo motors, a OEM gear switch, OEM trim wheel, OEM PA34 TQ and  a OEM yoke.

My plan is to use oem on all main controls. Looking to buy rudder pedals and a nice seat in the future.

For flaps control I plan to use a momentary switch so I'm not limited to detents..

The progress will depend much on how much time I have to work on it, so it's a long term project.

I'll start with some pictures of the trim wheel unit.

Trim wheel unit.

Based on BFF trim wheel electronics and an OEM trim wheel from a C150 series.

The unit uses a mechanical linked trim indicator, so no servo och calibration of the indicator. It uses the OEM spirals on the side of the trim wheel.

What's left is the facecard, it's a temporary solution right now. I'm going to a company locally who makes stickers. I hope they can produce something I can use.

Stepper motor with housing, sensing pot and dsub connector.

Module mounted on backplate.

From the front

3d printed front bezel, using hot melt inserts. Works really well. Printed in PLA.

After print, spray filler.

Sanded before filler

Painted!

Look at the difference

I also added a shrink tube around the spring so I got rid of the annoying sound [emoji4]

Really nice work and the shrinktube around the spring is brilliant.  I need to try that.

Hey Steve,
I got the idea of a friend of mine. It was very effective [emoji16]

Work keeps going on. I've done some work on the throttle lever. Designed a pcb and ordered from pcbway, fast cheap and good quality.

I'll use a OEM PA34 TQ, this stand for the pcb will connect to the levers by rods. Mounted on an angle to keep them as linear as possible.

Also been working hard on the parking brake mechanism which turned into a 737 project. I'll make the parking brake like on the 737, I'll also sell this product on my shop. I think its gonna be really good addition to many sims as it work just like in real life. Separate post for that though..
Pictures of TQ and pcb.

A side project I'm also doing for the Sim are the gauges. I love steam gauges, my plan is to use EADI + EHSI on lcd screens and everything else using steam gagues.

Here's a prototype I'm working on.

Moving along with control loading. All materials are now on order and should arrive within a few weeks.

Design is almost finished, some small items to fix/change and some features to add but not much work left.

Looking forward to start producing these parts.

That looks interesting.  What does something like that cost?
Less than 4 years to retirement......

archen

All in all, it's quite expensive with all the electronics etc.

Mechanical components is around $4-500. Most purchased from aliexpress.

Motors:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_dSzuAX1

Electronic components from Ian in UK:
http://bffsimulation.com/

Then add power supply and some other components.

I purchased a OEM yoke on ebay also for this project.

Project will be continued in about a month or two.

Been working on my cnc machine lately. New vacuum table, vise, spindle etc.

Also been working with a new electronics rack for the control of the new spindle. Now I'm going to control spindle rpm through CAM.

Also I'll be able to control vacuum cleaner etc via software.

Some pictures

The new spindle has been tested in the bench [emoji7] the control system works exactly like its supposed.

Soon I can begin with my control loading yoke.

Finally the mill upgrade is complete and I've machined my first part.

This one is for my control loading yoke. Aileron motor bracket.

Shaft machined and mounted. Had to cool the shaft and heat the bearing to make them fit. I'll probably never get them apart now [emoji23]

Hey Anders, is this to mount in a Boeing 747, I thought it was for a home cockpit?
Geez, what engineering.... 8)  ;)  ;D

Travel endstops mounted.

Also aligned the guide rail so it's straight. Next up is the mounting adaptor between the shaft and the yoke. It will be a quite complicated part to produce as it has more complex form.

It will be a new challenge but also fun to learn.
