I am rebuilding a poor battered HF radio.
The front panel is aluminum , no backlighting.
I resurfaced and painted Boeing gray.
Now I need to put the white lettering back on it.
Letraset seems to have vanished from the shelves!!

Would someone have some left or a better idea?

could suggest a simple low tech solution -  though not perfect
you can get off the web modelling decal sheets that you  can print onto from your printer
the decals can be applied and a special decal  solution  (that is wiped over the surface) used to 'pull' the decal down hard onto the surface and then just give a couple of coats of protective clear laqueur
resluts look good and fairly hard wearing for areas not regularily pressed

How can you print in "white" - or perhaps I am having another senior moment :D

Edit I stand corrected re post below

Letraset is still available. I bought it for the lettering on the gear lever.

Hey, super!
I googled letraset and similar entries for half an hour yesterday to no avail!!
So far they quote me 40 pounds postage for an enveloppe with 2 sheets !! ???
I sent an Email , waiting for an answer!  :D

David  I was planning to spray with a mat clear after that using Testor . OK?

ALPS used to make several printers that print in white and metallic. If you're thinking about doing this on a larger scale you might want to look at that option.
They're out of production, but interest in these printers is still very high and I think another company is trying to get them produced again.

Do a search on eBay and you'll find them.

Restoring that HF radio is a one shot deal.
and I need just a few letters.
Letraset seems to be the answer .
If they can ship it with "regular" stamps lol ! :D

Sorry, but I have not got around to lacquering it yet.BTW, if you can wait, I can get the letraset and bring it with me in June

Jack,
I tried the decal stuff and while it looked to be the goods, getting it to stick was a real problem. The surface was round, so I had a problem with the positioning.

After I got it right, as soon as I applied the lacquer (supposed to be for decals) it looked yellow and detracted from the job. I rubbed it all back and have not found a suitable solution as of yet.

I like the idea of letraset, too. It takes me back to my childhood, when my old man used it (he was a screen printer) in his graphics.

It was wonderful stuff.

Hey Jack,

I have used Woodland Scenic dry transfer lettering with good results.  After applying I sprayed a couple of thin coats of flat or matte clear to protect the lettering.  Here is a link . . you should be able to find a supplier near you.

This is a photo of the dry transfer lettering that I used on the elevator disconnect handle . .
