Title: Custom failures - what's that?
Post by: astoivan on December 16, 2012, 08:30:42 AM
Hi,

What is the "Custom" tab on failures page? I didn't find any info about in the manual or in the web.

Best Regards,
Antti

Hi Antti,

This button is simply a placeholder for future development, which includes customizable failures (i.e. user-defined FSUIPC offsets to allow triggering different failures).

Hi Luis,

And thanks for your quick reply! That's good news for me, as I was already drafting a future development idea of custom failures which could be programmed by user.

Care to hear another future development idea? A custom "saved positions" -list, where one could save "Position in FS" tool's different positions with custom names. For example "Home gate" and "Over Helsinki City @ 1000 ft". It would provide faster way to set pre-saved positions than selecting via RWY / Gate -tool.

Best regars,
Antti

Hi Antti,

You already have that capability with the save Situation function on the General tab.  As you say, much quicker for frequent scenarios!

Sorry, I had missed that... Anyway, great to have the feature already done!

Since version 3.30 iStation has Custom Failure built-in capability:

Custom failures (10 user-defined failures can be specified in the "customfail.txt" file). Number of custom-defined failures will be increased in subsequent versions.
