Working on my computer setup bit by bit.  My main computer is having an issue with the HD so I'm planning to rebuild it.  I have been running Windows 11 on my work computer for a while, but wasn't sure if there is a consensus yet or not on using it on flightsim computers?

Any big opinions out there one way or another?

FSAddon_boss

No big opinion...... updated more or less by mistake a few months ago, and so far everything kept running fine, just like under Windows 10.
Best regards,
Francois

For what it is worth, I have one box running win 10 and a different one running win 11.  In the retail version the system is now stable and I have had no problems with it running a series of sims and using VR.

I was hoping for some major improvements but. so far, really do not see that.  But unlike the beta, the win 11 platform so far has been stable and reliable with no unexpected problems or glitches.  I will probably migrate the Win 10 platform to 11 when Microsoft releases the upgrade.

Is it true that the only option for the task bar location is at the bottom of the screen?  That would be a bit inconvenient for projection systems.

That's a good point Fred, I recently had fun tweaking my deck software with the bar set at the bottom. Looking over the glareshield trying to see what I was doing was frustrating to say the least. So moving the bar to the top was the only real solution.

It is true that Microsoft .. in its infinite "wisdom" .. removed the taskbar move from the taskbar options but it is still possible to move the taskbar in Win 11.  It is just a bit more complicated and involves a registry tweak.

If you are interested, here is a link explaining the process.

Hey Jason,

Have you ran into any issues with W11 updates affecting your sim software/hardware? Also, what about networking with other computers, like W10 versions did with having home versus pro?

No issues yet.  I use PRO versions for everything mostly by choice I guess.  I don't think you'd have any problems with home.
So far I've updated everything outside of my main computer and have not had any issues.  Mobiflight, SIOC, FDS software all seem to work just fine.  Once I'm a bit further along with things, or have a few day lull waiting for something I'll probably update my main computer by uninstalling my licensed apps, wiping it, and then installing a fresh copy of windows 11.

Okay Jason, keeps us updated please   ;D
