Title: Airbus A320
Post by: phil744 on August 29, 2011, 06:56:40 PM
Chaps,

Morning, afternoon or evening depending what time zone you happen to be on,

Cast your mind back to this thread http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?topic=826.msg6500#msg6500

That was a little over a year ago when i showed of the A320 for the first time, bet you thought i had finished it, well actually know, started over again, small tweaks and improvements, i think i got panel OCD or something, i think its a illness we all suffer from.

So, recap, re designed all the PCB with a newer type of LED, lower consumption but with higher output, saved about 60 LED's from the whole overhead set, re positioned LEDs further way from the button perimeters, helps avoids hotspots on the buttons, tweaked resister values, now they run stone cold to touch, re designed the the 2 colour panels with separate green/amber sub lightplates, basically there are several lightplates in one, separates the 2 colours better, the Electrical panel is 12 individual lightplates, 11 green, 1 amber. :idiot:

But, finally I'm happy with it, and everyone who has got one from me are happy also.  The airbus for me has gone a bit mental, cant make them fast enough lol.

Out standing bus parts are the ACP, FCU, ECAM, RMU and EFIS, these are the complex keypad panels with dual illuminated switching, finally figured how to make it so its all in tooling now, even injection molding the lightplates for those, as far as i know that's never been done before, good result so far.

As for the switches that go in there that's been a project on the back burner for 2 years now, and a closely guarded secret, but got it figured now, one product i am personally excited about, same switch type for the Lear 45, CRJ, EMB190 and used on the 737 also.

So, the airbus development is coming to an end, will upload it to my site once i get through the backlog, 767 Overhead in the works now and i think i will try my hand at the 737, wot do you think?

Anyhow, some pics :)

Phil

Fantastic progress man! I've been following your progress on Flickr of course. I can only imagine how tricky it is to light two different colors with zero light bleed! Well done.

As for your plans to build the next aircraft parts.... nobody's building the 737 or 767... you should build 777 next ;-)
