Hey guys,

I updated my underglare lighting to 12v.  Initially it was household current and that posed problems working it into the build.  I found that using 12v LED striplighting works really good.  It is dimmable and is a very close match to the actual flourescent color and brightness.

Here are some comparison photos . . .

Real Lear 45 underglare lighting . . .

and here is the 12v LED strip lighting in my shell . . .

I also added incandescent lighting to the overhead compass by using small 12v bulbs that I located at RadioShack . . these are dimmable as well.

Hey Trevor, I think we have an issue here. THese pictures show that they are a hot link but when I click on them they do not get bigger....

Trevor Hale

@Bob, they are IMG Tags, not attachements.  Only the attachements will get bigger I think...

Anyone have any suggestions concerning the images . . I use photobucket and did not have this issue before, could the updates have something to do with it?

Yes it is the update that changed something. Not sure what it is. Will look at it tomorrow.

Ok, thanks Bob    :idiot:      . I had tried to re-attach the photos and see if it was something on my end.

Hey guys,

Been a while since I updated my build thread.  Since my last post I have been working on finishing out the area behind the glareshield. I used masonite covered with vinyl to make the panel that fills in the area behind the real Lear 45 glareshield and the front windscreen.

With glareshield extensions in full aft position . . .

With glareshield extensions in full forward position . . .

Closeup of the attachment point to real glareshield . . .

I also finished up the weights panel for the MIP . . .  thanks goes to Eric Tomlin for providing the following panels.

I finished up the APU panel .  I have added the START/RUN switch, the screws to hold the panel to the backer panel and the DZUS fasteners . . all that is left is to place the connectors on the wiring and it is ready to interface.

I also had a chance to install the document holder to the rear wall  and install the stickers located below the document holder.  A few small details that add to the realism.

Nice upholstering Shane, I swear that thing will end up flying for real someday its so realistic.

Tell me does the Lear have a moveable glare cover?  It looks like its on slots.

Cheers,

Ken.

Thanks Ken,

Yes, the Lear has two extensions mounted on top of the glareshield  that will slide forward/backward independent of each other on pilot/co-pilot side.  The part with the extensions is out of a real Lear and I am glad I found it. I would not want to try to make that piece with the sliding extensions and curves . . I made the curved/ half moon shaped piece that fits between the glare and the windscreen and was not that hard.  I used Loctite brand heavyweight bonding adhesive to attach the black vinyl and it really worked well.

If you ever need a job, you could start a business doing upholstery for luxury business jets.  :) I'm amazed at your patience & determination.

Great job,

Hey guys,

Over the holiday I was able to work on an area that I had been putting off . . the flightdeck curtain.  I ordered the parts needed that total around $28.00 and finished up the project.

I also finished out a filler panel over the doorway that filled a void area between the interior panels and the top of the shell door and placed aluminum angle along the sides of the door opening to give this area a finished look and protect the edge of the MDF from scuffs etc.

Thanks to my wonderful wife . . . she did the sewing on the curtain! Now I owe her . . :D

Here are a few photos of the updates.

The curtain uses a track system very similiar to the real Lear . . .

The curtain is made out of duckcloth . .

forgot to iron the wrinkles out . . .

Can I buy a 1st officer roundrip from nowhere to somewhere?

My god that pit is awesome Shane.  Are you sure you didn't just shell out a few mill and cut the nose off a working plane?  I'll take the next booking in the right seat after Jack.  Nice work dude.

You may want to consider leaving this hobby. I mean...getting sexually aroused by a curtain is just a bit too weird in my opinion. Get out before knobs start to arouse you as well  ;D
