J-Rail Project for Weber Seats

Hello All,

My first effort for a "J-Rail" type guide system worked okay, but it lacked smoothness and was difficult to move while in the Weber Seat.

The photo below shows an updated J-Rail design, that was modeled after the Boeing J-Rail Roller blocks.  I have now completed both the CA and FO J-Rail Assemblies, and have installed them within the Flight Deck on my 737 Sim.

I was able to borrow a real 737 Roller Block from a fellow Sim builder.  This allowed me to reverse engineer a version that I could fabricate for my Sim.  I used the existing "Rails" from the previous design, cutting them down to end up with four J-Rails.  I then welded them into a "T", and after alignment with the Roller Blocks, welded that assembly together on the Base Plate.

The J-Rail Roller Blocks were 3D printed using PETG filament, then post machined to allow the restraining brackets, guide bearings, and other hardware to be fitted.  These Roller Blocks perform identically to the Boeing Roller Blocks, and are about the same size.

I also made a custom Lever Locking system for quick and easy adjustment of seat position while seated.  The Grip was 3D printed with TPU.  All-in-all, this new J-Rail system works great.  It is now easy to move the Weber Seat and lock it into position.  The weight of the updated J-Rail system is now about 30% less than the previous design. 

This update to my Sim has been one of the more beneficial improvements.
