Gents, I have Installed a Firewall and it will run (Analysis) testing things for a week.  When I turn it on, some of you may be accidently  blocked.  If that happens, I will need you to try to contact me so I can unblock you.  I know this may be a bit of an issue, but it will be better for the site.  I need to protect our community, and I think this is the best way to do it.  Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions.

I gather your on a linux box regarding the firewall and site, but you say that if "Someone" is blocked, how can we actually contact the admin without doing a whois lookup if it's not private ? When the member or quest is blocked from the website ?

Just curious thats all.

Phone a friend and get them to notify me LOL.  Or perhaps write down my email address (it comes with every email message notification you get from the board LOL..)

But it is a good question :)

Firewall and Bad Behavior is now Turned on.  I Should have it configured so Registered members should be safe.... However If you or anyone you know is having issues getting in, please let me know. Proxy Servers will no longer get you in.  If you need a proxy server for some reason, I will have to try to figure something else out for you.

Hi Trev, I seem to get blocked when I do a mass upload of pictures (Just two) But when I refresh the page I am allowed back into the site.

This only happens in the media gallery with the mass upload function. I also have three albums in there, in which two of them I cannot delete or even edit.

Hmm, Ok sorry about that.  It isn't intentional I assure you.  I will message BOB I think I need him to make a change to the file premissions, we will start there, and I will let you know.

Thanks for the heads up!

Trevor

When I am at a hotel, I get a blank page with message that I have an invalid IP address, and thus unable to access the site. I used to be able before, at the same hotel.

Thanks Antonio.

I am aware there is a big inconvenience to this, and Please understand where I am coming from with regards to these issues.  The site gets hammered by fake spoofing ip bots, and thats what caused the (Malware) on the site.  Most of these originating from Russia, in any case..  The firewall has the option to block access from Proxies and unknown IP's I have both these options turned on.  What I will do is remove the Proxy block if I can and we will see if that helps you, please report back.  At this point, I think you guys are happiest having no malware on the site, so we have to find the best solution to keep the bad boys out.  Let me see what I can do.

Thanks bud.

Can you try accessing your galleries and or doing a mass upload again?

Thanks.

Trevor

I am back at the same hotel, in a different room though. Yesterday and the day before yesterday when I tried to access the site I was in the same room both days, so unless if you did something to the firewall, maybe there's a problem with the internet connection in that room. Either way I am able to log on today :)

I changed the setting on the firewall to ease up on the security of IP's/Proxies I am hoping that we are not more volnerable, but it appears still to be blocking the threats.
So we are good so far :)

Let me know if there are any further Issues.

Scott, you can try your Ipad again.
