Title: IRS digital Panel needed
Post by: 737man on February 22, 2016, 01:47:16 PM
Hello Guys
I would like to put the display on my IRS for my Prosim / FSX ran aft overhead.
If you have any links or ideas let me know.

another option would be to put a new IRS panel that works, but everyone I talk to does not sell them....

Cheers....

If you have the IRU panel already built, adding the digital displays is a breeze. You can use pre-made (commercial) digit mount cards or you can wire them yourself. It is not hard at all. I hand wired all my displays and can help you immensely with how-to's, diagrams, etc.

That would be great Mike because I have my panel built with a working keypad already wired up. I would really like to solve this cheaper than US$327.00! Cheers Gwyn

Hi Gwyn,

If you already have the panel sorted, I have a 13 Digit LED display that I no longer need, it even has inverted digits to put the decimal places in the right area.
Also has the driver board, and runs off a Pokeys card, and uses 6 ports.

Works perfectly with Prosim.

Note also with the Ruscool unit, it only extracts the position and wind/headings via FSUIPC, and doesn't integrate with Prosim for alignment time display and the like.

I no longer need it because:

Mick do have the resource for the display segment for my IRS panel to link to prosim.  or a link.  I am trying to add to my panel.  If you hear about another one for sale let me know.  Cheers Lance

Hi Lance,

There are a few options:

OpenCockpits make an IRS panel

http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/irs-panel-idc-bki-p-452.html (http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/irs-panel-idc-bki-p-452.html)

Pim used small LCD displays in his panel, and there is some good info on it here

http://home.planet.nl/~pvrijald/flightsim/irs_panel.htm (http://home.planet.nl/~pvrijald/flightsim/irs_panel.htm)

If you are using Prosim, you can also use a Phidgets LCD module, or a Matrix Orbital LCD / VFD quite easily as they are natively supported.

The other option is to multiplex some LED 7 Segment displays and run them via Pokeys or Arduino.

Mick or anyone, I found the same IRS box as you are converting too.  What is the process needed to connect to prosim & FSX?
