As per the leading thread in this forum, I have had a look at the books from Mike Powell, especially Building Simulated Aircraft Instruments. The fabrication part is a snap to me. But when it comes to making them work, will this book provide the information I need to make these gauges work? I know there's all kinds of cards and microprocessors out there, but that is the most intimidting part for me. So much so that it could be the difference between real gauges (prefered) or a glass/MFD (least prefered). Just wondering if anyone has been in the same position as me, but found tis book to contain the answers they were looking for.

Mike Powell is a member here and he his 100% helpful.
Check the engine instrument stack from Flightillusion , which could let you concentrate on interfacing real Nav instruments abundant on Ebay.
For Glass PFD check:

They are located in Montreal and have a complete line.

There is also another thread here by (727737nut) where he interfaced REAL 727 Instruments (using the data from Mike's Book) Successfully, I urge you to have a look at that thread, and put together your own impression.  All I can say is Mike Powell is an asset to this hobby, and without him and his research, our pits wouldn;t be as far as they are now.
