Clock (non Boeing)

Waiting for some parts for my TQ , I worked on the Sporty's clock.

Not for the purist but it is a real IFR clock, Zulu /12 /24 /  two chronos up and down/alarm Led and sound/backlighted
I find that it blends well with the screens (pasted) and it costs $25!
Not sure if I keep it black or paint it grey .

The clock is in its holder.
Get rid of the clip at the back. Make it flush. Drill two holes countersunk (slightly as the material is thin) Use flat head screws so that you can slip the clock no prob in the holder.
Use a back plate as shown in the pic. can be any material.
This way the clock can be removed easily if necessary.

Thanks Jack, you've just solved my panel clock dilemma as well.  I was almost thinking about getting wider screens (21 or 22") in order to include the clock but it seems a lot of LCD real-estate just for a small panel clock and then there's the buttons to include for all the functions.

That looks great Jack, where do you get them from? I could machine up bezels for them. BTW, your TQ flap gate is ready. It turned out sweet!

Clever as always Jack. Beats the heck out of paying several hundred dollars for a 'real' clock.

For the price, it is good looking, easy to to take apart  and paint grey, and it has Huge DIGITS, quite handy for aging pilots!!
More seriously the fact that it has all what it takes for serious IFR is a real +.

BTW Gwyn, a bezel might be a good idea. I can send you precise measurements, but I think that having one in hand would be preferable to make a nice integration.
Mine is surface mounted, which lines up depthwise with the DU bezel. But it could be flush like other instruments with a thin bezel around. It has to be relatively accessible though for changing batteries once in a while, and, if flush, would imply widening the MIP regular opening. Thinking cap required!
