Just a quick question before I go any further, have any of you ProSim users mixed Windows versions for your installations.
I mean using Windows 10 and Windows 7 PCs.

My main PC running system is Windows 10 but the rest are windows 7, is that a problem?

Thanks
Joe.

Actually - the question you want to ask yourself is why am I staying with Win 7. There is such a likelihood that eventually things will stop working on Win 7, especially Prosim since they are updating their software so often.

Wouldn't you make your life easier if you bought the OEM low cost Win 10 upgrades for each of them and start your build from a stable set of platforms? It might be the best $200 you can spend!

Do yourself a favor and update to windows 10... You can get keys on ebay cheap. Plus you get security updates and eliminate any potential compatibility issues.

You can still get the free Windows 10 version, so why not update? It is not like Win98 you know  :D
Best regards,
Francois

Hey Joe,

It works in cross platform mode for older setups like P3Dv4 and back, but the latest version of ProSim737 for P3Dv5 and MSFS2020 needs W10.

Check this:

Okay, you've all convinced me, I'll upgrade them all to Win 10.  8)  :)

Rats....you will still be one edition late (W11)  :D

After years with FS9, PM, and W-XP, I switched to W7 for SimAvionics and W10 for P3D some 2 years ago.

Catching up every 5-6 years only and flying happily in between.

I'll probably move to W-11 and FS2020 (if debugged) in 2027 if I'm still alive !  :P

I've been hanging on to Windows 7 like a drowning man because Windows 10 seems far less accessible. It always wants you to do things it's way.

And updates, (as far as ProSim is concerned) adds a whole new raft of problems with each new improvement . Where settings get reset, drivers no longer work... which sort of reminds me of another certain Microsoft product.  8)

Overall...I have had far less problems with WIN10 than I did with WIN7.  That said, I certain will not be an early adopter for 11.

Take a look at the Microsoft Store, they just posted lots of info on Win 11. There is now a downloadable tool that you can run which checks compatibility with your system.

Oddly, my very nice Alienware Aurora 6 desktop where I do all my development is not compatible with Win 11.

Probably missing the TPM 2.0 requirement is my guess.  I've been running 11 on my work laptop for a while now and it is rather stable.  Only issues have been a few glitchy drivers, but vendors have made updates available quickly.

navymustang

Good guess, but have TPM. Don't have a compatible CPU.

Turns out the Aurora 4,5,7 and 9 are compatible, but not the 6.

Odd !!!
