Hi all,
My name is Jørgen B. Nielsen, and I'm situated in Trondheim, Norway. After 10 years of dreaming and 2 years of planning, I'm finally in the process of cockpit mock up. The plan is to build 737 cockpit, with as much diy as I am capable of. The project plan has been to model as much as possible in CAD to minimize headscratching and rebuilding. The structure is made from laser cut sheet aluminum, while the rest of the components are to be machined on my OX CNC router or 3D-printed. As space is limited, the plan is to use three 65-75" TVs for outside view. There is still a ton of work left, however it has been really rewarding seeing 2 years worth of planning starting to come to life.

Hi Jorgen
Welcome!
You certainly have a quality build in progress!
......Complete with a full service kitchen galley I see!
Fred K
I love how the galley is right behind the cockpit.
Great job! I know you will truly enjoy this project.
Hello Jorgen,
It looks like you have a great start on your 737 Sim Project. Having the CAD and Fabrication capability bodes well for your making good progress on your Sim. I can see from your photos that you have a lot of ingenuity incorporated in the design of your Flight Deck. Nice work!
Be sure to consider access and maintenance in all areas of the Flight Deck.
Great job!
Mike
Thank you for your warm welcome, and encouraging feedback. Just to clarify: I'm not building the cockpit in the main kitchen of the house ;D I am married and have a 3 year old kid, who will grow up thinking it is normal to build full scale simulator cockpit in the basement.

And this is a problem how? LOL Welcome to the group.

This reminds me of a story I ready in EAA magazine. A girl's father and uncle were each building airplanes, one in his garage the other in his basement. She grew up thinking this was a normal thing most people did.
One day when she was over visiting a friend house, she asked her friend "Where's the airplane?"

Sweet !
Thought I post an update to the project. I have mainly been working on getting the overheads installed.
HOLY MOLY!
Those cut metal parts looks amazing! Makes it look real pro against wood!
Your sidewalls look amazing and also really impressed with the windows!
Nice work!
Woow! Love your construction. Great work in both designing and making 👏
Keep it up
Time flies! I see that it is more than a year since the last post. It has been a busy year, and I'm now close to completion of the first build stage. All that is left is to assemble the pedestal and some programming tasks. I have managed to make most of the parts my self including designing my own IO-PCBs. Only exceptions are the laser cut aluminium, the start switches from Anderssimparts, which I realy enjoy, some parts for the glareshield and the TQ from Cockpitforyou, which has been a very nice addition to the sim. The rest has been machined, 3D printed and assembled in my small workshop.
