Looking to get my hands on a couple of honeywell mag switches from a salvaged ac. at a very reasonable price.
I know the mag takes 28V. Have any of you worked with these and know what kind of draw they have at that voltage? Trying to determine if some of my upconverters from 12V will handle the load or not.
A magneto switch is a switch, whatever voltage is in, the same is out.
Unless you refer to the solenoid start switches, in which case they work fine with 12V as long as you use a relay card.
These have solenoid in them to hold the ON position that requires 28V to energize it. Yes, the switch side can do whatever voltage. I was curious as to how much draw the solenoid takes at 28V to keep it energized.
Mine are all packed away, and the specs don't mention the coil rating.
Easiest way to work it out is to measure the resistance of the coil, then divide the voltage by it to see the current draw. Obviously this will be higher if you use a lower voltage.
From memory they only draw 50-100mA, so you should be fine.
