New from Thrustmaster and being sold by Simmarket is a treat for all you Combat Flight Simmers.  Thrustmaster well-known for its Cougar HOTAS, is now working on a new product: two MFD displays that you can fully program. They work best for fighter aircraft of course, but you can use them with any sim and any aircraft if so wished. They will be available soon, but it is possible to already pre-order them now from simMarket here.
Special discount for all orders received before product availability (October 15, 2009) !

Pack of 2 multifunctional "USB Cockpit Panels", replicas of the U.S. Air Force F-16 MFD.
The ideal companion for all joysticks and yokes:

  • Compatible with all flight simulation games (military or civil) supporting multi-USB.
  • CD included with Plug & Play presets for "Microsoft® Flight Simulator X" and "Microsoft® Flight Simulator 2004". (Your choice of 3 presets: Generic / Light Aviation / Airliner)
From the creator of the HOTAS Cougar and T.16000M joysticks!

  • 20 buttons + 4 switches per MFD = 48 programmable controls in total!
  • Forget about your keyboard and take control with real flight instruments for even greater realism!
  • 2 programmable LEDs per MFD, to identify the MFD during programming.
  • Backlighting for buttons with adjustable intensity (via the software or manually).
  • Multi-position, weighted, non-slip and detachable base.
  • Multi-Function Display
  • 2 Plexiglas windows per MFD to insert one of the 3 pre-printed cardboard layouts with presets for "Microsoft® Flight Simulator X" (each cardboard layout corresponds to one of your choice of 3 presets: Generic / Light Aviation / Airliner).

I am looking at these myself for the Viper I am building. And the price looks good as well.

Bob,
Is there anyway to use actual program on a screen set behind this for example radar or something of that sort that actually works? Just sayin

Any idea on the size? They look to be scaled down to me, as is some of their other equipment. If they are close to actual, I think these have potential.

They look a lot like the MFDs I hand made for my old lockon pit

Here they are lit up with backlighting EL sheets and inserts in the middle.   I made them similiar to the old Masterpilot ones where you coudl put whatever you wanted in the middle.   They could easiely have the back middle cutout for screens if one chose.    I hand wired all the buttons to DB25 connectors so they could be easily detached.  THe mating db25 with wriing was hookded to my Hagstrom KE108 card so I could program each button for whatever I chose.    In this picture I had them as part of my Generic sim/combat it along with my Thrustmaster Hotas.   Was a great setup.    I still have these mfds if anyone is interested in them.   I can give you more details and you can just make me a reasonable offer.   you would need your own interface board but I would include the EL backlighting sheets and the inverter.

Hey Scott..

I would love to see those pictures, and I am sure some other members here would too.  Unfortunately, I am banned form seeing them, please feel free to upload them to the gallery here..  You can link to them the same way if you like.

When you get a chance.   No rush please.
