I actually own the real Flap and VSI, gauge, but the thermometer for the upper captain windshield and the cabin alt gauge would need a housing for.

I am shure we can do it. Maybe we need to adapt the scale to 315° because thats the max the single steppers do with a single stop. But with our system we can replicate any gauge backlighted or sidelighted.

Does your Mega256 code access Simconnect directly, or do you get the data from a different application. It s a bit cheeky to ask, but I would like to see your code if you don't mind. I have Simkits gauges but the overhead gauges for FSX are not supported by them :( So I've been looking of a way to use my Arduino boards, as it appears you have already done. :)

Lol. Thanks guys but this was a very old post. I have since got all my gauges working with Arduino and servos.
Ray.... What burns my ass lol is I had the same gauge but couldn't figure out how to get the three transformers to work together to move the needle. I lost all my patience and ripped it apart with a grinder and put a servo in it. Tada... Simple.

Yep.. it was difficult to say the least! After finally tracing the 3 separate coils-to-pins, I succeeded by treating each coil as a separate gauge. In short I ground one side of coil #1 and send PWM to the other side of that same coil for range 0-85.
Once I reach the end of the first range, I hold coil#1 steady until coil#2 is engaged by grounding the second coil and send PWM to the other side of the 2nd coil.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
It was FUN and many beers were consumed in the process. It's given me the confidence though to try more using real parts. Next up is a vertical card compass.

Not cheeky at all.. I'm happy to share my code with anyone. I'll post it tonight when I get home.
Since I use X-Plane, I can access the datarefs directly via ethernet using a plugin called
ArdRef. It's REALLY nice as I don't have to reload and start everything when I fire up the sim. Just turn on power to the Arduino and it auto-connects to X-Plane and everything just starts working.
I'm not certain if there is the same type of functionality for FSX. Worst-case is using a custom app to grab FSUIPC offsets or Simconnect values and send them via USB to Arduino. The custom app may need to be written if nothing exists.
On Peter Dowson's page there's a link to an FSUIPC Developer kit, which works nicely. I mainly use C#, but the DevKit contains examples using C++, Delphi, VB and so on. (Maybe Python?... not sure)
So, long story short, if you can write an app that grabs FSUIPC/Simconnect data, you can send it to an Arduino using a USB devkit for the Arduino. I may still have some of that code lying around somewhere when I was playing around with aircore gauges.

I was playing with those pins and found a similar thing. I was using a transistor and 12v and driving the gauge through the pwm.
Problem was I was not holding the previous coil steady. I just tried each coil by itself. Lol
In any case I am happy with the servo movement. Don't be sad thoughz. I smoothed out the grinding and made the gauge look nice still.
