Hello,
My name is Greg Hembree and I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of you who attended World Flight 2015 in Sarasota, Florida last year. I live in Clearwater, FL ... about an hour north of Sarasota.
Last year Bob Reed asked me if hanging around all of these simulator guys, was putting a bug in me to start my own. At the time, I said I would love to , but time, space and funding were not aligned.
Well, I finally caved-in and decided to start my first simulator. I am X-Plane based and have been flying a wonderful Experimental called Viper Jet MKII.
I enclosed a few pics of my inspiration.
Time to searching for key parts!

Oh man that is sweet!
Welcome to the dark side!
See Greg, I tried to warn you!! ;D Welcome to the never ending game! lol Love the aircraft. What are you going to use for avionic software? The cockpit itself does not look super hard to build either. I am looking forward to watching this come together!
I am using X-Plane. It has a very nice flight model for the Viper Jet.
I picked this plane as a first build because it looked like it would be a good starter build, will likely fit in my spare bedroom ( with flat panel monitors...longer term goal is for a spherical projection system), and is an out-an-out blast to fly.
Going to be interesting to replicate some of the avionics.
I already started working on the landing gear system and have hooked up a teensy board to get the signals in and out of the sim.
That's a great start Greg.
Start small and work your way up piece by piece.
Gear, Light Switches, Flaps, And a throttle. You will get there.
Welcome Aboard.
