Hello builders,
Could anybody tell me what's the use of the speaker panel on the aft overhead panel of a 737?
It's supposed to be a altitude alert warning tone generator p/n 1857-1.
A search on PMAaircraft shows that it is being used on 737-200/300 series A/C. However I've noticed a picture of a 737-600 or 700 which has the same panel.
What I would like to know most of all... Why isn't the aural warning module on the F/O pedestal side capable of making this sound?

There is no speaker panel on the aft overhead on the ones I work on. All alerts come thru the aural warning module. May be an airline option but the only ones I have seen it on are the ones with the egg timer in the overhead.
