Good afternoon Gents. I'm in the process of building an overhead panel from opencockpits and getting pretty far along. Already starting to plan the next phase of the build.

I've seen Scott's setup with the FDS shell and it looks awesome. My question is. There's a possibility that a could be relocating for my job within the year. If I had to disassemble the Shell would it be a huge pain in the ass?

I've seen great things about their NG MIP as well. I've got two 24 inch monitors to run the instruments on the capt and fo side. I'm just brain storming really and seeing what the thoughts of you guys are.

I'd love to think I could make my own Shell and MIP out of wood but I think I would need a lot of help. Thanks for you input.

Assembling or disassembling the fds shell is a good long weekend job for sure unless you have helpers.  Lot of screws!

If you use the fds shell you really need the liners as well.   

As for building out of wood.....many have done so.  Take Robs 733 for instance...shell is wood with real overhead liners.   Came out very nice.

Many have also built mips. 

It all comes down to your individual skills and wallet.   As Jack pointed out in another thread, you can really do a lot if you dont mind it not being a perfect match and dont mind taking liberties.

Just a note: 24" monitors are too big for a scale MIP.
Usually 2 X 19" for PFD/ND cap-FO
1 X 15"  4/5 for engines
1 X 10" for lower DU
