Find a decent picture at Airliners.net, print it and extrapolate dimensions.
Your gauges position depends more on the monitor size behind and location of the yoke than on strict reality.
A few inches plus or minus is not the end of the world.
It has to "look like" a 182 it will never be correct to the mm.

Jack is right, having flown a couple dozen different Aircraft, not one panel looks like the other.  Other than the general idea of keeping you "Six Pack" in the same area, they scatter stuff all over.  On the Mooney the six pack isn't even grouped like the others, but then again, some owners have modded their A/C to make the panel look more like the Piper / Cessna panels.  I wouldn't sweat it down to the inch as each one is a bit different in real life anyway....

thanks guys, that makes things a lot easier, all I have to do is get the wood, I was hoping to cut it to the right curve too but I am struggling to find that too so I will probably just make it up.

So all I need to do is make sure the holes are the right size and in roughly the right place for future "real" dials.

If you send me your email I have a detailed CAD drawing that I can send to you. It seems to be exactly what you're looking for. I will convert it to a pfd if you like, you could then get it printed out full size.

Let me know how you want it. There are plenty of CAD viewers around if you want to use it as it is.
