Hey guys!
To celebrate the purchase of a new machine to my workshop I'll be offering free shipping worldwide this week starting now, ending on Sunday.

The new machine is a EMCO cnc lathe. I've been missing a lathe for a while and this machine is very welcome. It's a CNC lathe with a six tool automatic tool changer. It will definitely open up for new products and I'm already working on a new project that will take benefit of the new machine.

Thanks to all! It's been great fun to get to know so many talented builders.

Edit: added a picture of the new machine

Thanks guys! It feels great.. I hope I will have a lot of joy with the machine both in my company but also in my own sim build.

Made some Threading and cuts last weekend. Still only in testing purposes but I'm very impressed with the machine and what you are able to achieve with the right machines.

Phil just send me an email or PM if you wanna get in touch.

Anders, congratulations for your new toy.
I have have my starter switches but comparing both products yours looks pretty well finished.

If I would take a decision today, I will get yours without doubt. I like them so much that I am debating if I should just get them.

I was looking at your store and I can't figure out where the switch for the MIP will fit.
Cheers
Luis

archen

Thanks Luis! :-)

The switches you are reffering to is the N1 / SPD Reference set switches which can be found on the autobrakepanel. These switches is special. You select the desired value you want to change with the bigger (inner knob) and then with the outer smaller knob you change the value by holding it to the left to decrease the value and to the right to increase the value.
Each direction have two positions. Turn it a little and the value decreases/increases  by 1. Turn it to it's limit (about 90 degrees) and you increase/decrease by 10.

These switches is not very common because they are barely never used in the real plane except from dual fmc failure. I made them because I try to make everything as real as possible within a reasonable budget. The real switches is very rare and I haven't seen anyone yet. I had the opportunity to feel them in the real plane and tried to make them as real as possible. Most builders don't bother about these switches because of their low usage so they haven't sold nearly as good as the starters but that was expected. Thought I do add them to the store so they are available to the users who wants everything as real as possible. Because they are quite rare I don't stock them and they requires 7-10 days to manufacture.

You will need knobs for them as well. They are built to fit the knobs from www.knobs.se but I guess most knobs would do it if you find any. The inner knob is a normal rotary shaft and the smaller knob is a 3mm shaft.

Best regards,
Anders

Thanks Anders for educating me about it.
I have a Sismo module that uses dual concentrics but apparently they don't fit my still to arrive FDS MIP.
With exception of wipers and toilets I try  to be also as accurate as possible.
Let me know if they will fit the FDS MIP and panel.
Cheers
Luis

archen

Hey Luis,
I haven't had the opportunity to test them on FDS MIP but I don't think it should be any problem. I have Simworld MIP and they fit without problem.

Take a look at my B737 N1/SPD REF thread: http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?topic=3280.0

You have all the measures in that thread to check if it will fit. I recommend you to cut a circle with a diameter of 40mm and hold on the back of the panel to see if it clears everything.

Best regards,
Anders

I should add that you need prosim737 to be able to use them the way they are supposed to be used. If you are good with sioc I guess you can get it work with anything but I'm not good with sioc so I can't say it work!

I still haven't  had the opportunity to try it out with sim avionics.

I have tested with Sim-Avionics, FDS Relay card, and Interfacit and they work beautifully.

Scott

archen

Hey Scott,
We got slightly off topic so I was reffering to the compatibility between  N1/SPD Ref set and sim-avionics, but thanks for confirming that the starters work with sim-a, good to know if someone asks.

Hello Anders,

Add me to the list of happy users of your nicely built Start Switches.  I finally have them installed in my FDS Overhead kit, and they work as advertised.  Thanks again for a great product - it has helped to add another level of realism to my Sim Project.

Anyone with OC overhead that can tell me the location of the lockinghole in relation to rotary mountinghole? Is it twelve o clock?

Thanks for your help!

I'm wondering about the pinlocation. The little hole that locks the rotaryswitch from rotating. Usually the pin is located at 6 o clock but I've seen some vendors have it at 12 o clock.

Thanks Mark. throttle quad is a little to complex for me at the moment :-) Wish I could make one though.

Ahhh.  Now I'm tracking.  I need to pop off one of the panels anyway, so I guess now is a good a times as any.  Let me see...

It appears to be at the 12 o'clock on this panel.  This is the Version 2 fully assembled overhead.
