Hi Guys
Being bits, bytes and offsets illiterate and SIOC reluctant, I need your help.
I want to trigger a looping wav. file when I close a toggle and stop it when I open it.
I have Syscards (FDS), and PM sound on all computers.
The Syscard can assign easily a button or keypress to a switch...then..?

???

LOL @ Elevator music :).

PM SOUNDS can trigger sounds on offset Events...  But not via keypress that I am aware.  So unless you select an offset that doesn't do anything to cause harm to your sim during flight that is toggled by your switch input, I recommend trying a couple of the freeware MP3 Players from flightsim.com.

There use to be some that via keypress would start your favorite music while you flew (I think that pilot radio group had something also) that you can just load the WAV/ETC onto the machine and when the keypress is pressed it will start the wave file.

Keep in mind there is also that guys post on the news page where he sends keypresses through FSUIPC/WideFS if you want the sound triggered from somewhere other than the FS9 PC>

Thanks Trev
You are right for PMSound unless someone has a clue.
No music, just the OVH test buttons for alerts
Sound of forced air when toggling the packs
Diesel motor sound of the tug when pushbacking

I know Sim A does all that but I am still stuck with my old PCs and PM.

Hello Jack,

Who says you need to hook into some sort of flight sim software? Sounds like you just have a toggle switch and a sound, without any sort of connection to Flight Sim itself or any other related hardware. Simplest way would be to hook your toggle switch to a joystick input (which I'm guessing you already have available), and write a little program that reads joystick button states and plays your WAV/MP3/OGG/whatever when the "button" is engaged. That's easier than it sounds...check out Pygame: http://pygame.org/ This is a Python wrapper for SDL, and provides audio AND joystick functionality. Check out the tutorials and docs, it's not hard at all. You might find yourself using it for more than just the elevator music. :)

Hey Jack, I do numerous sound triggers (many looping) using LUA. If interested, hit me up and I will write the file for you.
