Hey,

I'm currently wiring the LED strips for the backlight of my MIP as well as the flood lights.
Now I have a Question. I already have a PC power supply built in for the OC Servo Card. Can I also solder the LED strips to a 12V cable from the PSU? So that I can put a PWM-dimmer in between PSU and LED strip but that I don't have any more devices to put into the socket...

How did you guys connect your Led strips?

Thank you very much
Julian

It depends on how the LED strip was designed. Some need a specific dimmer to drive the strip, while others can be driven directly by 12V and PWM.

It is best to get a separate power supply to run any dimming. You don't want any switching noise to be transmitted back though the power supply to your other circuits.

Here is an endorsement for the Sismo solution for the MIP. They support complete backlighting and flood lights with built in dimming electronics that support the lower panel dimmers and each of the display units.
It's a great product.
