Hello one and all, recently bought a partially completed single seat trainer after many years of dreaming about it. I have been flight simming since fs98 and pretty regularly since.
My problem is I have no idea where to start with completing the panel, I have previously used a yoke pedals saitek panel and a vrinsight Boeing mcp. Now I've got what I've wanted for so long I feel like a fish out of water!!
I know it's a big ask but is there anyone who can offer any sort of help whilst I get a grip with how things work and are put together? Nothing is labelled so it's pretty much like a minefield.
I live in Staffordshire in the UK if any one can offer anything it would be very very much appreciated.
I'm now loving reading all about build and love looking at the pictures. I've attached one of the item I've bought.
Regards for now.

Welcome to the group. I am not sure where your experience level is, but you will need to understand how everything works with regard to flightsim.  Basically we use input cards (various manufacturers) to take switch inputs from the switch to the card and use a software to convert the switch input into a flightsim function.  If you don't have it already go and but FSUIPC and read the manual. (Seriously) This is the most important piece of software you will need and it allow you to do everything you want to do as far as interfacing to flightsim. For Lights and LED's you will need an output card (Unless your setup came with them). (specifying make and models will help us help you)

There is really no General way to have one person explain everything to you.  You need to do some research and take things step by step. (Piece by piece) and understand how and what each component does.

To get something working for you, if I am not mistaken that's a goflight MCP.  You should be able to goto the goflight website and download the software for it.

Install the goflight software and get the MCP working.  Run Flightsim and load the default 737 and that should start to work.

Let us know when you get that far, and we can help you some more.

I don't think that's a GoFlight MCP.
Looks closer to an old CP flight one to me:

Hey,

A lot of the old timers remember these items and likely still use them. It's the books by Bill Bulfer.

Checkout out this link:

http://www.my737ng.com/the-bill-bulfer-books/

From there you can get to the point of buying the hard copies or purchase the new Ipad App versions.

You might ask why you would want these items; well, too answer that, you really need to understand the systems and subsystems of the B737NG (that is what you have now). So, the more you understand how the real aircraft works, the more you will understand in regards to making the simulator work.

Like Trevor says, there is no one person who can explain it all to you, even on a website as great as this one. Therefore, you must start by learning it all in portions, and my suggestion is start by learning the Primary Flight Displays (PFD) and Navigational Displays (ND) of the Main Instrument Panel (MIP). Learn what everything on those screens mean, and then the switches, buttons and annunicators of the MIP will make sense because they usually affect something on the PFD and ND screens...

Otherwise, welcome to crazy club!

Hello everyone,

The panel I have is a simworld sst with the mcp/ efis are opencockpit, there are annunciators with flyengravity 6 pack + AFDS. There are also io cards/MasterCard (opencockpits) also usb expansion with 1xinput 1 x output. I also have a twin needle flap gauge with servos to fit.
I am reading what info I can but with having little knowledge of electrics connections and the like it is going to be a difficult learning curve which I'm sure I'll manage slowly. I've only just got my computer running and I'm aware I will need a second to run cockpit plus sim graphics so I'm on the road which may well be long ????
