Decided to build a sim a few years ago but was waiting until my wife and i bought a bigger house. Well it finally happened a few months ago and now i can get started on the building part.

Ill be attempting to build a Beech super king air 200 based off the ruscool plans. IVe been trying to source original parts, but apparently my internet skills are not what they use to be.

My career has s working as a A&P for a cargo company that flies Beech 99s, Beech 1900s, King air 350s, a 200, and a few embraer 120s. Ill add a few pics soon, my ipad is deciding to act up

This is the room I have to work with. It's 12ft by 22ft. I think if I can build a 10ft diameter screen the cockpit should fit nicely in the middle

Im still in the planning stages for the main computer so any help would be great. It will be based around a 6700k CPU, my biggest hurdle is to figure out what motherboard to use. I want to start off with a single GTX1050 and in the future get 2 more.

Looks like ruscool is the only company that maeks the lower panels for the king airs. If I find enough downtime at work Id like to attempt to make one myself and see how it goes.  Along with the throttle quadrant (not many of those floating around)

If you have 12' available I recommend you go with the max radius/diameter you can.  Nothing sucks more than being six inches short of the right size!

I could do a 12ft diameter but it might be an entire 180 degree. I have at most 9ft fore/aft. the tape measure is 12ft. The 2x2 is only 8ft, I have another foot to play with.  The only thing in my way is the HVAC duct.

I have an idea on how to build the screen, was going to start on that in a few weeks once the holidays and my wifes b-day is over, but is there some info on where to position the projectors? I was going to be using the Optoma GT1080, starting off with 1 to get the feel for it and add the other 2 down the road.

Hey Mike,

Was thinking of you...don't know where you purchased your computer components from or through; I know you said Amazon, but who is the selling company?

I like using NewEgg.com or TigerDirect.com for computer parts. Also, you listed your parts, but nothing regarding RAM type and the speed of it, nor cooler type. Are you going with water cooled, if not you should go with the double water cooler...I think it's called H2O. Additionally, I recommend two SSD's for the drives. One for OS Win 7/8/10 and the other for FSX/P3D. Checkout and buy the SSD's with the best Read/Write speeds.

By the way, what case are you going to use? Whichever you chose, remember cooling is everything, so the more fans the better...it will sound like a vacuum cleaner when running, but it will keep up the FPS. Which Power Supply and how many Watts? You'll need a larger, wattage wise, power supply to run all of these power hungry components.

Did a couple flights in P3d last night. My first impression...meh. Have all slier to the right and it still looks like garbage, although the clouds and water look great. Granted this was in the flatland central US. Ill have to try something in WA or AZ to really see what the base scenery looks like and build from there.  I have some ORBX scenery from FSX so Ill have to transfer them over when I get a chance.

Any other good scenerys out there? Seems like Nuvecta has quite a bit out there for NA.

Got my overclocking done. i7 6700k @ 4.7, I used prime 95 to do the stress test. The temps reached as high as 68C, so the cooler is working flawlessly. going to work on the memory today so far it doesnt like it, im stuck at 2133mhz until i do a bit more reading, any tips?

Theres 2 more of them but looks like they have had better days. Im assuming they came from 2 planes we use to have but ended up being scrapped due to high airframe times. I think the 99s can go to 50k hours per the FAA.
