I'm not sure what it's called so feel free to educate me.  The long bar behind the 737 landing light toggle switches that allows you to turn them all on at once...what is that called?  And does anyone know where I can find one?  Surprisingly I haven't seen any sim parts shops selling them.

They show up on EBay once every 3 years...!  :P
PS:not sure it is an NG feature

Hi guys,

Just affirming the toggle bar is used on the NG.

Cheers,
Karl

If someone can provide more details about them I can have a look at it and maybe offer those.

Anyone have drawings and pictures?

The overhead frame I bought came with it. It was from a 300 series I think.  I will try to take some pictures and measurements soon.

Thanks for affirming Karl.  I was pretty sure I had seen them on every real NG overhead picture I had but that's no guarantee of course.

Anders, thanks for your consideration and to Craig for providing a real copy.  Can't find them anywhere so I'm sure there would be others interested.  Considering what you've done with your other parts, this would probably be a breeze for you ;D  I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Hello Anders, I also found a couple of pictures that I have.
Since I do not know the origin of the pictures, please let me know if they are yours or when they need to be taken down.

Best Regards,
Marc

Hey Anders,

You start making them, put me down for one...

I did have to slightly modify my FDS lightplate to accommodate the part (notched out the top a bit) because the "backplate" of the assembly is slightly larger. See Marc's second picture.

Craig

I will still post a picture when I'm back near the sim.

Great pictures and drawings. If you can give me some dimensions would be great. I've a FDS ovhd myself so I can make them fit.

I see that the bar is if two parts. Anyone know why?

Most of the replica lightplates dont have the cutout to accomodate the bar.
I only saw FDS and simvionics panels having the cutouts in the lightplate for the bar.
The bar wont fit Simworld, flyengravity and opencockpits lightplates for sure...

I also thought that the latest NG and MAX aircraft only have 2 landing light switches and dont have the bar anymore.

Anders, i can send you one if you want to replicate it. Send me a PM.

That would be awesome! I'll send you a PM.

Many thanks!

The bar is in two parts as the front piece is a fiber material so it can rub against the switches without metal to metal contact.

I didn't even consider the latest NGs and Max, but true, no bar on those. Not sure that anyone is making a sim lightplate in two switch configuration yet though.

This is the modification I made on the FDS lightplate,
Small cutout for the fixing plate and spring mechanism.

Craig

I did the same small modification to my FDS light plate when fitting to my real frame that included the landing light switch plate.

Hey Scott,

Did you get the touchup paint from FDS? If not, where did you get it and does it match up pretty well? I plan to MOD mine later...

Thanks guys!

Is the original bar too high or too wide? I think I'll make the replica to fit the FDS ovhd. Better have a replica that fits without modifications rather than exactly the same dimensions on the backplate.
