Guys,
I acquired some older fds panels along with the backing plate and some sub panels to which
i assume the tactile switches attach. I also got a bunch of matching buttons for these panels.
I have never seen how these go together but gathered the switches(toggle attach to the backing plate and the smaller tactile ones are glued to the sub panels(acrylic). The question
is what switches to use. The buttons have a hollow inside that measures 15mmx5mm. All
tactile buttons i see have much a smaller square hole that mates with a corresponding one
in the button. I was also supplied with some buttons that matched up with B3F Omron switches. Can someone please enlighten me on what FDS would have done to marry up these buttons with the right switches.
Thanks
Les

It sounds like you are describing the FDS-K2 switches. These are the type switches used. You can find them cheaper at mouser but these pics are good.

Les.

If you would like when I get home from work tonight I will post a picture. I think I have a couple of these in an old EFIS panel.

Gary,
Thanks, did a search but the only number somebody came up with was not a part no.
Trevor,
A pic would be great if you could. I put the panel together and a Omron B3F sort of works
by acting on the base part of the switch but cant believe FDS would operate a switch like this. Its almost like there should be some insert in the key to match the Shaft size.

PVA2EEH3 is the switch p/n.The ebay listing I added shows a good picture of it and Trev will show what looks like all assembled.

I could be wrong, and maybe this isn;t the Generation your looking for.  But this is out of an FDS EFIS Panel.

Clearly the "WHITE" Part only moves and is the tactile switch.  2 contacts are for the switch, and the other 2 are for the led.

Thanks Trevor,
Yes thats a later version. I think the correct switch is the BF3 series but FDS used a peculiar way for actuating it. They did not have a matching hole in the key but used the base of the
key and the base of the switch to activate it. Yet they used the normal way ie shaft size to match key hole when they did the FCU panel, very strange. But that was 10 years ago.
Guess they learned a lot over the years.
