Title: Interfacing to MSFS...
Post by: RayS on August 18, 2020, 09:56:48 PM
I figure it may take about 6 months to a year to convert all my Teensy Microcontrollers over to MSFS from X-Plane.

I currently use a CANBUS architecture so I will only need to worry about the following:

All I need is a way to pass data to/from the main CANBUS controller. (In my case it will most likely be a Arduino 256 Mega)

There are several options out there, and Mobiflight looks promising, but it also looks like an end-to-end solution. All I need is to send/receive data to/from the main 256Mega controller. CANBUS will do the rest.

Looking to the group here for inspiration/suggestions....

Given that you know how to program, use FSUIPC or whatever the new interface is with:

Or one of these if you don't want to use the UART https://www.ftdichip.com/Products/Cables.htm

Or are you looking for a software solution?

Have you tried FS2020 ray? Are you making the switch? :)

Kyle, I will give that a shot. Thanks for the info!

Kurt,
I just installed MSFS2020 tonight and went on a brief dusk flight around the Seattle area.

Verdict: I won't be able to get rid of X-Plane fast enough! Unless Laminar Research starts to really focus on the scenery aspect and seasons and not "Fighting robots on Mars" (A euphemism alluding to nifty prop-wash effects that are maybe 0.005% better), I see no reason to keep it on my hard drive.
