Guys,
as Worldflight gets closer I would like to reiterate the fact that our Host (SAM) has graciously donated his simulator for the experience yet again. Please be reminded to treat the simulator as a simulator and not a real aircraft! When switching switches, or flying the aircraft remember to be gentle and respectful. (The Start switches have to be pushed in before you turn them) If you have to force something, chances are it isn't meant to be used or ask someone how it operates.
I know in the past we have had a few rough handling incidents, and if it happens again this year, those people will be asked to leave the facility.
Please remember to treat everything of SAM's Like it is your own, and by all means (Don't lean against or touch the cars).
Additionally, please do not take pictures without Sam's permission.
Best regards,
Trev
Again, also remember to get your VatSim ID's up to date. You must have a valid VatSim ID to participate.
Welp.. there go the in-flight arm-wrestling tournaments for landing rights...
(Seriously though.. totally agree.. and I apologize profusely for 'exercising' the stick-shakers last year.)
You got me all afraid now :o ???
Lol @ Ray I forgot about that. I guess that could count. Lol. That's funny.
Rob don't be afraid. Just don't sit there holding the stall warning test because you like the vibrations in the cockpit. Ha ha.
Ray was in the cockpit alone when that was going on too. Lol. Ha ha ha

...it was on the checklist! ::)
Not even going to ask 8)
That's funny!
Vatsim ID Activated!
Going on a short hop tonight on Vatsim to get some radio work!
Got everything set up now. Using PFPX to dispatch and upload flight plans to VATSIM, TopCat for performance profiles, XSquawkBox on the sim...
Ready to go!
Great stuff Ray, that's awesome news.. 24 Days and counting, I can't wait :)
I've been flying allot on PilotEdge if anyone wants to join me.
Rob
While I used for DAL209 about a 97% accurate Delta flight plan for ops last year, at least for the legs I'm going to be flying, I'm going to use an alternative format, because my little airline is shopping for a new flight planning system. I'll post a sample later tonite.
I'm investigating being able to have hoppies acars system issue PDCs, instead of joining the clearance delivery mosh pit when we don't have to.
Lol Doug. I would love to see that work. Perhaps we could use that for the Russian CLD lol. Had some issues there last year. Ha ha
Looking forward to the entire event.
Also Guys. Don't forget your headsets if you got em.
Just a reminder.

Hi guys, the sim uses real aircraft headsets, I have two dedicated headsets on the cockpit, you are welcome to use them, they're NOT noise canceling or high end headset, or you're welcome to bring yours.
Cheers!
Wow, thats pretty awesome..
Did you put that all together?
Trev
Wow! That is pretty awesome!
Yeah, they are intercom linked, jet type two ear , Telex - Airman 750 Featherweight Aviation Headset, pretty awesome, all we need is to get the PTT to be recognized by the avionics pc and talking to VPilot.

I will look after this when I arrive.. Pretty simple fix actually (Just have to review my notes before I come)

Any chance the buttons for the side panels are wired in so we don't have to be holding the yoke while the other guy is flying?

They are not at this point.
Not Yet but we have all the tools in place. in case anybody gets bored on WF and wants to wire them!
Cheers!
Update on my ATC Cheatsheet:
I was able to use it a few nights ago to do a VATSIM flight from KSNA to KSEA.
Conceptually it works. Originally I tried to cram the entire flight communications paradigm onto 1 sheet but that just won't work so I am creating 2 separate sheets:
1. DEP ATIS --> Clearance-Delivery --> Ground --> Tower --> Departure --> Center(s)
2. ARR ATIS --Approach -- > Tower --> Ground
...and it worked! I had no fear of keying the mic, knew exactly who to talk to, what to say, when to say it, and what expected responses would be.
Of course this is for the folks that don't normally communicate regularly with ATC and over time these cheatsheets won't be needed, but... for the new guys this should work well.
I'll post drafts probably this weekend to get some feedback.
