HI everyone! My name is Warren and I want to apologize for dropping off the face of the earth!!
I've been VERY busy. For those that don't know... Last Friday I handed over the reigns of the USSOCOM Enlisted Academy to my replacement. That was followed shortly thereafter with a ceremony to commemorate my retirement after 30 years in the US Army. That means I am basically unemployed now. I'll continue to get paid until the end of November as I'm now burning excess time off, but unemployed just the same!
Anyone know of any jobs in aircraft simulation?
I hope this means I can now focus on flying my sim!
Anyway, thought I'd let my "other" family know.
Here's some pics of my change of responsibility (in camo uniform) and the retirement ceremony (dress uniform). I got a sword! and my daughter's surprised me with a letter from George W. Bush!
Congrats Warren!
Happy to see you retiring with all parts still attached !
You look terrific (where is the mustache ?)
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Jack
Thanks Jack! I shaved the mustache when I got here to Tampa. I tended to push the regulations a bit when I had it, and as I worked for a 4-star General here, I didn't want to put him in the position to look the other way for me, or have to say something.
The good news is that I took my last official photo today, so I'm growing it back now as of today.
Warren
WAY TO GO WARREN! OUTSTANDING!
Now, it's time too become a Defense Contractor...they have simulator related contracts, or better yet, start your own simulation contract company.
As for mustache, honestly you look 20 years younger without it; especially, when comparing your Avatar pic to these current pics... :idiot:
John
Congrats Warren,
I hope you enjoy your retirement.
And I'm with John on this one, years younger without it.... But I guess the family will have an input. 8)
All the best for the future mate,
Joe ;)

So true, so true. I did buy clubs though (used, just in case I never use them).
I am in the early stages of contemplating building another GA sim for the low and slow...
Some inspiration for you Warren.

Nice! Thanks Joe. Here's a couple of my older sims:
Seems like you've done this before Warren, they look very nice too
So perhaps you should go for something like Trevor's 350
:2cw:
I think I am going to shoot for a generic, configurable sim using a G1000 or a screen to display instruments (with the exception of backup instruments). I have amassed quite the collection of PFC throttle systems so I want something where I can swap out the Throttle and go from single-engine to multi, to variable pitch prop, or turbine, etc.
I've got some ideas which include a mask for the the LCD that has all the necessary cutouts to display multi engine instruments, but has the ones not needed/used blanked out when flying a single engine fixed pitch prop, for instance.
I just can't decide if I want to leap into a G1000-type system or go the steam gauge route. The practical person in me says G1000 is the way to go - (RW as well as sim), but that "old-dog" in my wants steam gauges.
As for visuals... after trying out that VR setup at FSExpo I'm thinking about it. And all of this would fit right into my current sim hanger next to my 737!
😎
HA HA
Congrats Warren and thank you for your service.
And, for what its worth, I switched to a G1000 setup about 3 years ago (having learned to fly on old steam gauges) and have never looked back or regretted it. It is not hard to learn, is a bit hard to master, but the amount of info at your fingertips and your situational awareness is amazing.
Steve
I'm getting worried about Bernard, I think too many late nights building that sim 8) ;) :)
Or playing the Pogues driving around with Guinness :)
If I dont have to drive in WF this year that will be my poison of choice...
Well Done Warren,
I can never be able to accurately say something that would say everything at the same time. I know you had a lot of sacrifices along the way. But.. In one statement, and Coming from a Canadian it may not mean that much, however.
"Thank you for your service, and for helping to provide us with the freedoms we have today"
Well done my friend, and congratulations.
Trev
Congrats on ending the collection of hash marks.
Happy retirement Warren
Go Navy, Beat Army :)

Thanks Trevor! I do appreciate it - and coming from a Canadian it means so much more. We'll hoist a few at Sam's in a few months

It appears that your son is able to invert a carrier.... not much more I can inspire him to do...
So your next job is stand up comedy?
When you click on it it inverts....forum weirdness.
You left the service right before they taught this new skill 😉.

Obviously its an Australian or NZ carrier, given its upside down
