Title: How do I change a setting?
Post by: tmadaras on September 30, 2009, 05:58:52 AM
When I click on a listing in the Active Threads column I'm taken to that message in the thread.  The problem is that my memory isn't what it used to be so I end up scolling up to refesh it.  I then discover other messages in the thread i haven't yet read.

Is there a way to have the Active Thread column take me to the first message of the thread instead of the last?  I've looked but can't find it.

Thanks,
Terry

Hey Terry..  You aren't the only one who has noticed this..  I am in the process of having the "Active Threads" Module re-written.  I want it so that the Thread starter's name always stays on the post.  This should then always direct the user to the "First" Post.

In the meantime, I will see if I can find a work around for this.  You are not alone My Friend.

We will get it sorted.  We are all learning this new software that is for darn sure.

Best regards,

Trev

I got used to it after a while, but this is a valid comment, as Trev said.
having to scroll from start can be annoying, having to scroll up to catch up can be a problem too.

Well guys,

I am sorry to say I have a little bit of Bad News!  According to the developers over at SMF, the "Active Threads" Block calls a function that defaults to placing the latest posters name in the list instead of "The Author"  Thats not all.  The built in function of the forum always sends the user to the last post in the thread.  (Which is annoying for all of us)

Unfortunately, we may have to wait a bit for this to be corrected.  I have added it to the SMF Feature request to be a selectable option, who knows if they will listen, but I have tried.

Sorry for the crappy news.
