AUGUST 4th, 2020 – After careful consultation with some of the organizers of Worldflight regarding the health and safety of everyone in our group, as well as the Travel restrictions now in effect across North America we have made the difficult decision to cancel Worldflight Team USA - 2020, scheduled for November 7th - 14th in Sarasota, FL.

Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our members and the charity we support. But we know it's the right decision based on the information we have today.

Our team will be working hard to bring this event back for 2021 should the situation change and allow us to proceed Next Year.

We are also looking to explore our option of taking part virtually for a few flights along with the other Groups should they decide to proceed with the event in their respective countries.

We thank everyone who shared their views on reimagining worldflight this year.

Have not seen a published 2020 WF route schedule as yet. Is there one? Usually by this time it is available.

Will fly some routes alone no matter what. Suggest that if others do that they consider making a donation to ACH in the spirit of continuing our support to a great charity cause. Could continue doing that through the WFUSA website.

Will possibly consider hosting a small group locally IF COVID calms down by then.

Fred

There is a draft schedule in a Private WF group on FB. If you host, I'll be interested in attending. TBH, I was invited to Oz for this year's as this is the 20th anniversary of WF, but Oz is still closed to foreign visitors, and our international jumpseats are too. I can fly us domestically.

JC is saying sometime in September for a schedule release. Sam is a part of that group too...

Even though the event is off, I'm planning on taking that week off and flying some of the routes in my Beech 1900 to raise money for either ACH or Pilots to the Rescue.

The donation platform is in place and working but hasn't been through any testing yet. Perhaps this weekend.

That is a downer guys, all the best from team VOZ738 here in Perth, Western Australia. In these times we are lucky to live on the planet's most isolated capitol city, we have less than five active Covid cases and those people are all in isolation.
We have had the same team for 5 years but Bill Smith and Giles Hacon recently "retired" and we welcome new member John Scott. A major upgrade begins on Velocity 738 on the 17th of August, new PCs, HD projectors and loads of new Flight Illusion gear to install. Hopefully all goes well and we will be ready for November. If not, we still have the awesome 737 cockpit owned by Jason Beringer available as back up so we will be there.
Maybe you could "tag team" to keep DAL209 flying from your desktops?

Cheers Gwyn
Boeing 737NG using Prepar3D v4.5, Prosim737, FDS SYS cards, FDS CDUs, CP Flight MCP Pro & EFIS Pro & Aerosim Solutions hardware of course!
Check out my website here -
http://www.aerosimsolutions.com.au

Fred, I would consider coming to your place, lets hope this thing settles down a bit. I will keep my options open and see. Traveling out of state is really a concern, but since I can do a trip to your place without the need to stop anywhere, I can consider a two or three day trip there.

Lets see, will sync up mid October and see.

Kyle and Trevor, even if you manage to get into US somehow, getting out will be a problem. lol!!

Adding a bit more detail to this thread:

James Twomey and I have decided we want to fly some routes during the WF week. We want to participate under the US team flag.

We both have VATSIM IDs, and need to start planning NOW, since we don't really have a streaming platform yet. (I may relocate my own streaming system to his sim)

Basically we understand there's a tremendous amount of legwork involved so there will need to be some coordination.

Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!
