Back to Basics - FSUIPC Help (Turboprop)

Ok Guys, Here is my problem! Well I have many but apparently after 2 years of sitting on the sidelines I am in need of a memory Jerk.  First off, I have completed the rebuild of my TQ for the Beech 99. And have done the following.

Throttle / Power Levers Engine #1 & 2 = Slide POT #1
Pitch / Torque Engine #1 & 2 = Slide Pot #2
Left Enging cutoff/GND/Flight = Slide POT #3
Right Engine cuttoff/GND/Flight = Slide Pot #4
Flaps = Slide Pot 5

Ailerons = Slide Pot #6
Elevator = Slide Pot #7
Rudder = Slide Pot 8

NOTE: If anyone here tells me to RTFM, I will probably ban the user (Just saying) LOL.. 

First question is that since moving from the 737, and other Jet engines to what functions will I assign the Cuttoff/GND/Flight levers to?
(If it was a piston they would be mixture) What should they be in the Turboprop?

Second Question, when calibrating all these axis in FSUIPC do I
A (move the pot, select send to fs as normal axis, select the function, and save)
B (Move the Pot, select send to FSUIPC for calibration, select the function and save)

Some answers. assuming I understand the questions (19H00 = fine scotch in a cristal cut glass)  :laugh:

Cuttoff/GND/Flight levers to?
I think it has to do with Mixture

For the second question Trevor, I've found that experimenting is best. Most work fine as a normal axis is FS but sometimes not.

Sorry I can't be more specific than that.

First question, It will probably work with fuel cut-off valve or switch, but each designer does things differently so you may have to experiment with like commands that will shut down the engine.

cutoff gnd flight I reckon is aligned to Fuel cutoff, then prop feathered, which will allow controlled taxi and flight is to move the props to auto control constant speed i.e. fuel (throttle) = thrust
this control in turboprops usually called prop condition lever

Hey Trev, RTFM!  Lol  :laugh:  No just kidding (cos I want to remain here)

Your cutoff/GND/Flight levers in the turboprop are "Condition Levers" as already pointed out and yes assign these to Mixture in FSUIPC.  As to your second question regarding FS normal axis or FSUIPC calibration, I've done both and not seen any difference.  I usually just select normal axis and be done with it, particularly with standard common axis such as these.  Try both as Mike suggested.

BTW, why are you only using one POT for Throttles and Pitch levers?  Wouldn't you want two for each?

Boy I ask, and I get lots of responses ..  And only One RTFM LOL Good I am glad. 

First Off, I was thinking the Mixture would work, but Didn't know if that was piston engine specific.  So thanks to all for clearing that up. 

Pictures....  Well, When I left my Last employer I had to return my Iphone, so need to get the digital camera out for some pictures..  I know I am slacking in this department, but I will attempt to accomodate those of you who want pictures.  (Be advised I am still missing the light plate and the baccklighting, so at this point the throttle has no "text on it yet"

Ken, I went with a single pot for the throttles and the pitch, because as I learned with my Falcon 900ex, the pots that have a +/- 5% tolerence, never would be 100% alligned all the time if the throttles were together one of the throttles was a higher or lower N1%/ ITT% then the other.  So until such time, when I could afford String pots with exact travel and tolerence I figured this may have been the best solution.

However, with that being said, It will be somewhat easy to add the second pot if I feel that it is required down the road.

Also, I still have to attach my rotaries to the Aileron and Rudder trim knobs.

Mike and BSW..  I appreciate your suggestions and advice, and all of you thanks for the information about sending the commands direct to FS or through FSUIPC Options.

I will try these functions this weekend and will report back here with my findings.

Again, Thanks a bundle to all of you for your help.

PS.  Jack, I wish I had some fine Scotch, seems whenever I have to deal with FSUIPC (Which is a necesisary evil and a great program) I feel the need to get Tanked.

Had no luck with regular pots.

Since my new TQ, power levers sync stays within 1% with very smooth adjustments:
Receipe:
Phidget sliders for all axis including flaps and spoilers
FDS FC1
On off switch for reverse
FSUIPC calibration.

Basic setup:
The link between the lever and the slider is an RC rod
Positions have to be tested for proper travel.

Here is something Trevor, if you want to use the aircraft I am using you will need both mixture controls for the aircraft to work.

Thanks Bob, actually thats why I only tied the Throttle and pitch together.  the Mixture knobs are seperate.  So it is all good.

Jack, thats exactly how I did mine, I just used the Alpha100K slike pots I got from mouser.

Just missing the fds board.  I can say though the Plasma card I have the axis's wired to does have a synch axis switch, but I havent toyed with that yet.
