Title: A320 Simulator - FSX
Post by: davdav39 on November 08, 2014, 12:54:09 AM
I want to build an A320 simulator - starting with the overhead panel (I am using FSX). I have been researching for over a month now and i still have a large problem; I don't know how to link up key commands to each and every button in the cockpit. I was planning to hook up switches/buttons/knobs to my keyboard emulator (that I have already built) that connects to my computer via USB. But for that to be the solution would need to be able to assign everything key commands. I have heard that i could use FSUIPC but I am not sure that this will give me everything I need E.G. the FMC/MCDU.

Any help is much appreciated and if you have any other methods to connect to FSX I am all ears!

Thanks for all the help

Indeed FSUIPC is a powerful tool.

I think one of the first questions to ask is what hardware are you thinking of? In particular what interfaces. There is a lot to choose from.

Another thing to get your head around is that of a separate avionics package.
Its a good starting point to just work direct with FSX, but further down the line you might want to look at avionics packages - these effectively run the sim and manage all your hardware. FSX then just provides the flight model and outside view.
