Title: crab effect
Post by: ivar hestnes on September 20, 2009, 12:20:11 PM
Have anyone managed to get rid of the crab effect in FSX? I did get rid of it in fs9, but in fsx I cant get it good enough for flying. I am using the default 737 as flightmodel if it matters.

Anyone that has any suggestions?

Hi Ivar
Just in case, how did you get rid of it in FS9?

Hey Jack. In fs9 I had pmdg as flightmodel. In aircraft.cfg I changed some numbers. If I remember correct, it was "views:   xxx, xxx, xxx"    I changed the number in the middle to 0, and then the runway became very straight. But I cant get this to work in FSX.

I thought it would be the same procedure there ;)

Ivar,

when you said

what do you mean by this. Changing the value in fsx doesnt change the view?..

Yes, thats exactly what it seems like.

When I try to change these numbers, I cant see any difference at all on my screen.

And it should change the lateral, vertical and fwd/aft settings I think. (Maybe not in that order though,  ;D ).

Guys, I understood these variables only changed the eyepoint in the Virtual cockpit.  What I did in FS9 was removed the Virtual cockpit, set the eyepoint and ran the sim in an empty virtual cockpit mode.

Maybe if you try that in FSX that will work.

Arwinpoon, I hope I am changing in the right file, but now I am not sure since you are asking ;D

Good point there Trevor. I dont use the "virtual cockpit view" now. Dont know how to get rid of the cockpit textures. Maybe thats why nothing happens when I change the numbers.

Anyone know how to get rid of the cockpit textures in virtual mode?

One question will lead to another here ;D

Well, In FSX and FS9 I was using the PMDG 737, and when I select the aircraft I selected the aircraft with winglets and stairs but no VC.

That seems to work for me.

Ivar,
Just a quickie but why use a virtual cockpit mode view. Why not use full screen 2d cockpit view?.

I found a link in another forum discussing this but I havent tried it myself.
