Hello guys,
So, I've been working hard on a new switch lately and today I finally made the first prototype. I'm quite happy with it for being the first prototype. I do have some things to take care of and optimizing spring tensions. But overall I'm happy. The important thing with this prototype was to see that my mechanical design worked the way I wanted and it did.

You can see a short demo on the video below. It's inferfaced with Phidgets relay, pokeys I/O and connected to prosim737. It acts as Yaw damper switch in the video but it can also be assigned as Anti-ice.

I'll keep you guys updated on the progress. I already spent too many hours with the design this week so there won't be any new prototypes until next weekend.

Would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Best regards,
Anders

Nice Anders

I guess you've taken the measurements and the switches will live nicely with all the other bits and pieces that are nearby in the overhead.

Good stuff

If all goes well you know where my order will be : )

Yeah I did. As always the space surrounding the yaw damper and WAI is tight! I've built it so it fits FDS overhead without problem so I guess all overheads which is scale will do it. FDS have an IBL connector very close to the the switch. Will clear that connector by ~1-2mm. The switch housing dimensions is 40x90x24mm.

Thanks Frank. Will do.

I've made progress today. Made the adjustments I planned and it worked great! I beleive this prototype is very close or may even be the final product. I'll have to do some extended testing now and to take care of some manufacturing stuff. I beleive I can start selling them in a couple of weeks.

Hey guys.

Made the final improvements. I'm really happy with the result now and I've decided to go ahead and do all the testing with this prototype. Starting now with an extended holding test. After that I have a tester who will try it out in his cockpit. If that turns out perfect I'll start making the first batch.

Just a short update. Everything is going well :-)

Does anyone here have a few pics of the backside of the your overhead? In the area of Yaw damper and WAI? If you have some available please share them with me. I have FDS ovhd and they fit a treat in that one. Clearing all switches, annunciators and IBL connectors. Would love to see how other brand look on the backside to see if there will be any problems fitting them. I don't have the real ones but I beleive my switches is quite close in dimensions.

Hi Luis,
The cap is from FDS, I will not include the cap with the switch, sorry. They are available at FDS though.

Wonderful job Anders!

I'm assuming it will fit my Simworld overhead, so I'm waiting to place an order too.

Would be glad also to hear when you are ready to sell.

Many thanks,

Steve

Hi Anders,

This is another outstanding improvement from Sweden! Please, put me on your order list. I just got my FDS stuff, so I look forward to start assembling with your start switches and yaw damper switch.

Regards,
Edward

Anders, I'll try and get into my OC overhead over the next day or two to get some pics for you.

Nice to hear Edward :-) Isn't those fds panels looking great? I bet you don't regret you took my advice and went with FDS.
Don't forget the Wing anti-ice switch as well ;-)

Next week I'll receive electronics for the new switches. Probably going to start manufacture a couple of them by the end of next week.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Yes Archen the FDS panels are great indeed. I am not aware that the anti-ice is solenoid driven as well; it seems that PMDG has not modelled this. I'm wondering why not? Giving you the benefit of the doubt I assume it is modeled in Prosim.

Nice weekend too!

archen

Thanks Sean! I had no clue. I don't have that switch on the overhead.

Looks like it will work good in the CVR as well. If the software supports it of course.

Am I on a percentage?!  ;)

Of course, all this talk of simulating the voice recorder switch  :o will have some folk rolling their eyes in disbelief!

archen

Nice find Sean. And nice software, I'll try to get into touch with the creator and see if there is any possibility to support hardware solenoid operated toggleswitch

Hi again Anders

Wil you be shipping the switches before Xmas?
What's price tag

Cheers

Mark

archen

Hello Mark,
Yes I should be able to ship them before xmas. Hopefully they will be available in about 2 weeks. Price tag will be announced at launch. As the prototype is still under testing I don't know if I will have to change anything to the construction and therefor I don't wanna say anything about pricing yet.
